I loved punk. Pistols, Clash, Damned, Vibrators and saints among many others. Great just to see the Saints get a mention.

The Clash -- one of my all-time favorite bands---thank God they ( and Reggae ) came on the scene when they did and rescue us from the dreaded Disco music that was out of control by then....

The Pogues too----- Tremendous band !

Iggy and the Stooges for sure! The Clash were phenomenal, but lost the plot near the end. Johnny Thunders, epic. Iggy Solo as well.

Iggy Pop solo, yeah! he's forgotten way too often.
I even prefer his solo stuff to Stooges albums to be honest.

"The Idiot" and "Lust for Life" rule.

Local Boston punk- DMZ Real Kids La Peste,Dawgs Neighborhoods Willy Loco Alexander, Classic Ruins, Lyres, as well as the Ramones, Pistols, Clash,Jam, Stranglers, Undertones, Thunders, Iggy Pop in his second Bowie phase, Dead Boys,NY Dolls (still one of my top 5 ever!)
Some good music, man-getting nostalgic just writing this. I just turned 18 when the local scene exploded and the Rat had great (and not so great) bands playing every night. Each band would do 2 sets, alternating. A lot of newer bands didn't have enough material for 2 sets so they would play the exact same set twice. I'd stand RIGHT next to the stage right in front of the speakers night after night...no wonder my favorite words are "Huh?" and "What was that?"

Yes, they are classic, but also New Values is stellar. And Kill City!

Not really a Punkfan cause I'd been into other bands (like the Stones) before.
But in 76 when it started all around GB I was in London and there was that special atmosphere and I saw a lot of great gigs - Clash,Sham69,Damned,Eddy&hot Rods, etc. - and I liked it! Had a lot of those albums and still have a strong feeling for that time.

I was living and running in NYC during Punk's heyday. So many incredible shows at CBGBs, Max's, Hurrah, and smaller places.
My favorite band back then were the Contortions w/ James Chance. Then later became James White & the Blacks. lotsa noisy, clanking funk.
and two of my alltime favorite guitarists are from those days: Richard Lloyd from Television, and James Blood Ulmer, who at that time was still playing on the street.

Well you're from Texas and what do they know about punk?

The Pogues have 100% punk credentials.

Just because they use an accordian means nothing.

It was a way of life for us late teens in London in 76/77. Went to college with John Lydon and Sid Vicious and got to know the latter quite well. Weird bloke, very shy and prone to violence to cover up his shyness.
