Listen to the EL Mocambo show that is available. Dance Little Sister and Route 66 are phenomial! IMHO, they were clinging to life as a band.... and came up big. Little Red Rooster is great, Mannish as well. very hot!
Johang, the one or two 1975 I've heard I don't much care for any more than the '76 stuff I've heard.
Ronnie doesn't rock much on Around and Around. His playiong is too light and playful in tone imo.
Ronnie's style is well suited to Crackin' Up though.
Mannish Boy is novel but it's not classic in any way. They've done more intense versions on the last tour. Again Ronnie's twangings make it hard (for me) to take seriously.
But really.....time to shut up until I hear a boot of the show.

I agree with Mathijs on the 76 audience recordings, a lot of them sounded like the Stones were really kicking. On DVD's they look like they're having a pretty good time as does the audience so what;s the problem?
The problem is that they have been fairly lame since 75, except for Knebworth and El Mocambo. And who care of Ronnie Wood's playing on anything? Its hard to tell on the audience recordings how good it really is. Still what was the full setlist for Mocambo?
Well I have to say I LOVE the version of Rooster on LYL - it's the same version and the same key that we play it in and it sounds awesome! (it's on our CD).

Ronnie's twangings on the Licks-tour are awful. The 77-version is brilliant. BTW, Keith does some great stuff on this version, and Jagger's vocals are priceless.
Both shows were recorded by the Stones. There's an interview with Keith the day after the first gig, and he runs through the soundboard tape with the interviewer. This tape was, according to Keith, useless as it had technical problems like wistles and hiss. He hoped tonights show will be recorded better.
There is NO dvd of these shows. Marquee '62 is a holy grail, but one that will never be found. Most probably no recording was made. So for me the 1977 are the holy grail. I think they will turn up not long after the Stones quit.
George Chkiantz has made a 20 minute professional film of the Stones in 62/63, and he also filmed them in the Marquee. Maybe this film ever sees the light of day!
