Yes I was born, raised, and lived there until I was 25, then fled the scene northbound back in 1989.
It has changed in so many ways (crowds, tourism, traffic, attitude) that I hardly recognize it when I go back to visit.
Last I heard, they've closed and are tearing down the Santa Monica Civic...sad.

Just down the road from you in Brighouse West yorks. The Picturedrome puts on some great gigs, especially old bands that still tour.
Marin County... a beautiful place, I lived in San Rafael for a short time many years ago. Loved it except there were no good taco shops there at the time, and they rolled up the sidewalks at 5 pm.

Re Santa Monica Civic, VERY sad to hear this.
Talk about Memories! The TAMI SHOW with the Stones, James Brown etc. Clapton
et al gave some of their best shows there. Bowie as "Ziggy". The list goes on
and on. 2500 seats.

Holmfirth in northern England. Never visited by the Stones though Bill and the Rhythm Kings played at the Picturedrome (picturedrome.net) i was there with another 600 fans both times.
Stones wise it's 25 miles from Manchester (Arena for Licks tour in 2003, Maine Road for Urban Jungle in 1990) and about 20 miles north of Sheffield's now demolished Don Valley Stadium (Voodoo Lounge 1995, Bridges to Babylon 1999 and Bigger Bang 2006).
