you know..Jagger makes all the sense in the world...he does not want to let the Stones drop...if it wasn't for him, the rest of them would be doing whatever..Keith would be speaking at libraries...Charlie would be playing brushes with piano trios..Ronnie would be on a book/art tour..

but Mick wants to try another album. bless him

yep...i mean at least he DOES stuff...seems like unless Keith has a Stones tour to keep him busy or a lame book to wite all he does is sit around...what happened to those songs he did with Steve Jordan???...

Mick wanted to call the tour "Fvck off"? I think he achieved that sentiment when they announced the ticket prices.

They've spent "nearly a million on rehearsing"? Poor them.

Where is it confirmed? It's not confirmed in that article, as far as I can tell...

How does renting an empty warehouse space and hiring some french dudes to move equipment into it cost a million dollars? A million dollars is how much it cost to record Chinese Democracy.

I bet Ronnie has absolutely no idea how much they have spent so long or what on earth they are planning to spend.

Who is managing this with Mick? Prince Rupert is long gone....

Keith and Ronnie clearly live in worlds of their own...so unaware of the rest of us "seat-fillers" aka potential ticket buyers.

We know that Jane Rose is a hard-working woman but apparently doesn't have the guts to sit Keith down and get real with him.

Wish ProudMary could sit down with them and ask a few tough questions.

Oh, that's a great idea winking smiley
I'm sure I would have coped with this task

My guess is that they weren't so much "songs" as riffs and rough ideas - sort of like most of "Main Offender". What the hell happened to him sitting down and actually writing a song? You know, like "Ruby Tuesday" or "Coming Down Again"? It has words, it has a chorus, it has a bridge. Novel idea, he should take a look at trying it again.

what costs 'millions' to rehearse songs they've played a zillion times and everyone is sick of??...

Three weeks in a small rehearsal space outside Paris with a stripped down band has already cost them 'a million' apparently.

Seems that with Cohl and Prince Rupert out of the picture, the Stones are turning to Ronnie for financial guidance.

What utter f**king bullshit.

Great article, thanx for posting!

I agree that Keith comes out as the dork in there. Not the first time either.

The songwriting and recording department seems pretty much shut down, which is kind of sad, especially when you look at what Bob Dylan and others their age are putting out.

There's no way I'm going to any of those concerts (too far away, too expensive, not good enough), but I'd be very happy if Mick T and Bill came out on stage with them. That would be a beautiful gesture.

the mag is breaking some news to be sure - [www.rollingstone.com]

remember when I posted that the tour was delayed a year because of LIFE - the bu--sh--t that it caused? It is confirmed here - another reason for me to hate that silly book

I did not have any insider information but I immediately said that this book and the Richards interview with Times would affect the activities of the band. Richards thought that he could do or say anything - there was no escape for Jagger as the 50 th anniversary was coming. I think that when Jagger canceled their performance at the Olympics - then Richards realized it was serious and he must to apologize.

funny you would say that man...i played Main Offender for my brother this past weekend as he had never heard it...he said it sounded like a bunch of unfinished ideas and now he could see what Mick added to the equation...

and i totally agree with you...how can the same guy who wrote Coming Down Again present Infamy to the world??...

How jealous and insecure Keith must be. No wonder he drank too much, medicated himself too much and bad mouthed everyone. It just goes to show that all the money in the world can't make you feel good about yourself. I love the Stones but only for their musical contributions to rock and roll and nothing alse.

I can not agree. "Bob Dylan and others their age are putting out" basically albums of covers. Dylan has his great musicians who play basic blues and he writes beautiful lyrics of course but he can't sing to safe his life
No one is as alive and full-blooded as Jagger on D&G ot Some Girls outtakes

The good news is that Mick wants to go for a new album, great! Hope he can fill it with lyrics as good as those on D&G, his best lyrics since, hum...Some Girls ? UC wasn't too bad but was a bit preachy.

You have a point there. I realise my statement wasn't really waterproof. I was mostly going by what others are saying, since I'm no big fan of Dylan or Springsteen. As pointed out in another thread recently, those guys are solo artists and don't need no songwriting collab to begin with. But still -- they are more productive and get good reviews, something the Stones haven't really been for real since '81. But that's another subject.

I understand what you mean. I think - I hope - that the more time Mick and Keith spend together working the greater the likelihood that a good album can turn from it. If Some Girls bonus tracks and D&G are any
indication

Your post are spot on! I,for one, love The Stones as a GROUP.....but as much as people want to 'pick'at Jagger, he IS delivering the goods at his advanced age!! People! its not 1969 anymore! Mick has aged nicely. I think that people are seeing that excess of drugs DO catch up with you at some point....kinda evident with Kieth. Love him,but,dude....you shouda planned ahead...I realize the fingers aren't what they were in youth,do to artheritis, but the things you say REALLY go against you and drinking like a moron and putting any substance in your body has CAUGHT you....no?

Easy: not enough fame and money in solo work. He tried, and failed.

And interesting to hear that the riff and basic song for Doom & Gloom is Mick's. Bet Keith is sour about that.

Since Richards isn't completely sober, Wood is inclined to keep an eye on him. "I'm not going to preach to him," he says. "I will step in if I see any danger."

So Ronnie has taken it upon himself to be Keith's AA sponsor.

What could go right?

Bill and Mick T certainly deserve to be there more than Jeff Beck,at least they were stones.
