Carla Rhodes confirms the Stones!

(admittedly my interpretation)

in the vid, Carla/Mick said she/he was in the apartment of "Lowell Hicks".

Here's 96-year-old Lowell still blowing minds on the marimba in 2009

in one of his promo vids, Mick said he was "just a kid from Wooloomooloo, who
loves kissing the kangaroos"

This is a variation on the Australian folk song "The Wooloomooloo Larrikin",
a "larrikin" being more or less the Aussie equivelent of a hooligan. The version
of the song I know in part goes something like this:

On the day that I was born, it was a cold and a frosty morn
In the famous old town known as Woolloomooloo
It was down in Riley Street my folks first heard me bleat
'Cause at the time, I'd nothing else to do
Well me mother died of fright when she saw me in the light
And me father thought he'd send me to the zoo
But I owe a lot to him, 'cause he taught me how to swim
When he heaved me off the pier at Woolloomooloo

(I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead, but its alright now...)

Has Superrevvy suggested that Rihanna could fill in for Ronnie Wood by scatting his guitar lines and double on bass to replace Daryl Jones at the same time?

They then will announce a new band called the 'The Rude Boys' featuring Rihanna and a world tour will follow shortly. I mean, it's so friggin' obvious this is what this week is leading up to.

Is it possible they aren't really playing (and someone else is)?

No, they've already been rehearsing with Mick. Their schedule could be another reason why Beck was added, though.

Speaking of which, it would be great to see Mick perform Commit A Crime again. It'll also be interesting to see what he plays with the other bands. If they recommend something more obscure than a warhorse- or at least something like Shattered- Mick will probably be open to the idea.

Mick should play before they make me run, happy, and connection.....that would be funny

(Because Arcade Fire does not have enough people in their group already)

Nikolai Fraiture @N_Fraiture

I will be playing bass with @MickJagger and @arcadefire tmrw on @nbcsnl! Tune in if you can!!

(this is why they've had to move the music out onto the plaza... fire
regulations. too many people in the bands. so mick of course has
got to do comedy and stay inside. so now he can't sing with arcade and
the foos....

big problem! they thought about rih, but she's stuck in LA for the american
idol finale. what to do?!

keith to the rescue. he's offered his band to help out at the end, and he'll
hold the fort until mick can join em outside for the big finale. that keith!
what a sweetheart!)

WMMR 93.3

"Call us crazy, but we would be shocked if the Stones don't turn up for at
least ONE song -- if not all of them. It just doesn't make sense for Jagger to do
an SNLmusical appearance like this. It would be one thing if he was performing with
his side band SuperHeavy, or promoting a new solo album -- but this is out of the
blue and coming at a time when the Stones REALLY NEED to look capable of being a
band again."

Nice photo. I forgot Pat Smear was back in the band. Way to go, Mick!

I went to high school with George/Pat Smear.

This performing outside discussion brings to mind the comeback of Aldus Snow on the Today Show. Perfect.

For what its worth, Mick is bringing his own lighting guy.

Ok, kids, I don't think the Stones will play but there are a lot of musicians playing tomorrow night. It's getting bit stupid.

Any signs of Jeff Beck?

When is Ronnie's gig over in Cannes. He should be done by now. It's 4:45 east coast time. A flight from Nice is 9-11 hours depending on the jet. He could just wait for a morning flight from Nice, Paris, or Heatrow and land at JFK.

If Ronnie shows up at JFK tomorrow then we know what's going on, unless Jeff fills in or MT plays. Isn't there an Exile anniversary this month?

Who are we kidding. We'll get FF and Arse Flame. Hey, Keith, can I come over and watch with you? This should be funny.

But, only going on evidence and gut, I'll respectfully disagree with you about SNL. I have a feeling we're gonna witness the return of a "certain" band to the stage this Saturday Night, perhaps even accompanied by a pretty big annoucement.

maybe the show is just an open audition for the next Stones bassist. Could you imagine Claypool in the Stones...yeah, me neither, but it would be "interesting" to see what he would do with Miss You. lol

Foo Fighters are playing 7:30-9:30 in Atlantic City. They therefore won't be present for the SNL rehearsal (8-9:30), unless that rehearsal is being held earlier in the day (possibly why those studio tours end earlier than usual at 3:30?). And it seems pretty improbable that they'll play live on the show, which runs from 11:30-1AM, as it's at least 2 hours from Atlantic City to New York.

So I'd guess that their segment will be taped, which is not how SNL usually does things. Is it possible they aren't really playing (and someone else is)? That seems highly unlikely given TeddyB's posts on this board. I very seriously doubt the Stones will play, especially with Ronnie in Cannes the night before (while Beck could fill in, his band will be present as well). But it is all a bit curious.

helicopter ride from Atlantic City to 34th Street heliport is 42 minutes

The Rolling Stones, like any band, need promotion. Hell, Keith and Mick even wear t-shirts on stage with their logo on them. Don't you think that if they were to perform on SNL that they would advertise it? There would be so many Stones fans that would be pissed off on sunday morning if they performed and they missed it because they had absolutely no idea. If The Stones were going to perform, NBC would have promoted it. Stones on SNL = more viewers = sponsors are happy = more money. Keeping it a secret would be absolutely foolish.

HOLY SHIT!!! Why didn't any of us think of this? Because we're Stones fans, missing the obvious. Smear is suddenly back in the fold with grohl, NYC is crawling with bassists like Tal, the SNL house band guy, AF's bassist now joined by Nikolai Fraiture, Claypool, etc. to provide cover/distraction when Nooselivic flies in. After playing their one song with Jagger on SNL, the Foos announce that their one June show will be their last. While SNL finishes up inside, Nooselovic or a star-studded bassist join Grohl, Smear and Hawkins and announce that their UK summer festival shows (with a new Jeff Beck band and AF) will really be as the RE-UNITED NIRVANA celebrating their 25th anniversary, and play 3 Nirvana songs on the outdoor stage! It was right under our noses the whole time...

I do not believe the Foo Fighters are going to play in Asbury Park and then play SNL on the same night. I've been wrong before, but I've been right before as well. STRANGE THINGS ARE AFOOT AT THE CIRCLE K.
