Wow, this is a tear jerker. "ALL I WANT IS YOU" from "Rattle And Hum" with a blind fan playing guitar on stage just days ago. At the end Bono gives the guy his famous Green Gibson guitar - Great moment !!!

This was neat!
The band was finished with the show and taking there last bow when Bono noticed the guy holding up the sign to come and play with them.

Bono haters will call it a publicity stunt, but I just thought it was a tremendous gesture.

I remember U2 having a fan up to play 'People Get Ready' during the Day on the Green gig I say them do back in the 80's. The guitar that Bono gives to the fan appears to be a Gretsch though...

Now I know why Bono likes to socialize with politicians : he's one of them, and like them he relies on dirty tricks to gain popularity...

Yeah, you might be right Chris. Isn't that the same guitar (a white one) Lennon played during the second half of the Beatle Years? I think Keith has one too - a black one (GIMME SHELTER - one of the most popular songs he uses it on + many many more I believe)

Thanks for posting. Great moment. Whatever you think of U2 and Bono. He makes this guy really happy. And that's good.

Lennon's was a sunburst Epiphone Casino with the finish taken off.
The sunburst was used on the 1966 tour. He took the finish off early 1968.
Harrison did it, too, on his Casino.

It's a nice gesture, but I'd be surprised if it was really as spontaneous as Bono made it appear. Probably the guy had been in touch with U2's management, who thought it would be a cool thing to do, and tipped Bono off to look for the guy holding the sign. It did add an intimate, personal moment to a show in which the gigantic stage is so much the main focus of attention, that the fact that the band is there, playing the music live, almost seems besides the point.

What's really sad is that I have a ticket for the U2 show in Montreal on Saturday. I just came down with a bad gout attack, crutches and all...so I'm not going. It will be my third missed U2 show since 1997. Oh well...

Hey thanks for posting that was really nice. I used to be into U2 a long time ago. Haven't heard their music in years. That was a trip down memory lane, thanks again.
