I would like to know what each and every iorr fan member would describe as their favourite Stones track
You cant list more than one
You cant say all of them
You need to explain why

OK me first.
GIMME SHELTER because it sounds the best to my ears, i never tire of it, i love it live, as well as the studio version, it is timeless, it has many meanings to different people, and it just sounds outside of Einstein's theory of relativity smoking smiley
It just is out of this world

Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standing in the Shadow George Orwellian lyrics, hypnotizing guitars, buried pre-Exile vocals, and biting, seditious lyrics.

I don't often consider this question, but when prompted I would say:

'Midnight Rambler'. It encapsulates the Stones of the late 1960s and is a song that I see as a progression on an earlier threatening favourite, 'Play With Fire'.

It hints strongly at the band's roots whilst offering something that sounds fresh and remarkably modern, and showcases the talents of each of the contributing musicians.

I view it as a representation of the Stones in their most natural, unadulterated state.

.....

Olly.

Let it Loose for me. Studio perfection, the emotional build at the end was so good it can never be repeated. The lyrics are awesome and the effected guitars sublime.

"Who's that woman on your arm, all dressed up to do you harm......"

Jumpin´ Jack Flash. Why? It´s simply the best rock song ever written. Perfect from start to finish.

It's really stupid, but to play the game : "Memory Motel" (I could have said Let It Loose, then, Following The River)

This question pops up here every now and then and I am always torn between Brown Sugar and Jumping Jack Flash. Right now I say JJF. Because it IS The Stones. Just like BS. However great tracks Midnight Rambler and Gimme Shelter are (and I understand well why many people rank one of them as the very best), I think MR and GS are a great mixture of their influences and their own creativity. While with BS and JJF, it is all The Rolling Stones - the guitar riffs, the rhythm, the lyrics...all of it. Whenever Keith hits the first chords and the guitar sound cuts aggressively through the air, it is pure magic.

Well, if I had to narrow down to one it is Ruby Tuesday.

I know it wouldn't be tops of most fans favorites list...but for me it is just a beautiful melody, good lyrics matching up well with it. The instrumentation though simple is perfectly suited for the song, creating a unique sound that makes it stand out. I love the strings improvised by Keith and Bill.

This is one I can listen to over and over again. A high point, certainly up that point.

Normally I go for Gimmi Shelter as we did some best track by the Stones a few times.....

This time I go for the filthy StrayCatBlues (studio version and GYYYO) with the great squealing guitars from Keith the ritthem from Charlie, Rocky and Bill (if I'm right) and the easy way Mick sings this song and way at the end the harmonica sound Nicky plays on the organ/mellotron (at least that what I hear)

For me It's very hard to pick one song as there are dozens of great Stones songs which never bores......................

Studio: All Down The Line. I love the guitars and background singers
Live: Star Star. I love the guitars, high energy, and the nasty lyrics

Studio:
- It's All Over Now
- Tell Me (long version with guitar solo),
the best examples of the powerful and unique sound of the debut.
- Satisfaction for its roughness
- Jumping Jack Flash, so energetic, a perfection
- Sympathy For The Devil
- Gimme Shelter, for its hypnotic intro

Live:
- Gimme Shelter in Philadelphia 1972, for Mick Taylor's sensational input.
- The whole Paris concert (esp Sympathy For The Devil) in 1970, which made clear to me that Keith Richards and the Rolling Stones had become gods.

Orwellian lyrics? Wow, never thought about them that way. Maybe even a hint of Kafka and a slight De Sartre influence too perhaps?

I'd have to go with my favourite song of all time by anyone which is (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.
