Well, heck, you forgot that shitty-ass Pete Townshend!

Everything about this post is just wrong! These guys are great. If these guys are overrated, then Keith, Ronnie, Brian Jones, and yes, Mick Taylor, flat-out SUCK.

when was beck overrated? he is usually the forgotten guitar hero out of the guys from the 60's and he was the most innovative

The first verse. Put your headphones on. :36 to :38 and :46 to :51.
You gotta crank it to hear it, though. It's similar to his other licks in the song.
It's not mixed low, but sounds more like it was to be mixed out.

Yeah, you're right! thumbs up

Joe Satriani. He's a juggler, not a musician...

Yep Dude, you can tell that to Mick jagger.

Ah, Mick jagger, the man with the finest taste in musicians. He who gave us Primitive Cool and Goddess in the Doorway, and Alfie, and Superthing.

That band that toured with him was the most appalling band ever to grace a stage.

Agree, but the 1993-line up (Webster Hall) wasn't too bad.

But that was a different band of course.

Did anyone mention Buddy Guy, the worst tone in the business.

I had mentioned Buddy Guy earlier. Fast, but no feel, IMHO.

Indeed it was, but Mick's sense of picking the right musicians had improved heavily.

I would love to see playing guitar those who say that people like Angus Young are overrated...

Jimmy Page (I like Led Zeppelin, but Jimmy defines the word over-rated in my opinion)

Slash (Always sounded sloppy to me, although he does play very tastefully on Ronnie's latest)

Alvin Lee (One lick as fast as he can, over and over...)

I have never heard a sloppy Slash - ever. I doubt you'll find much examples on Youtube to back that up either.

But I could be wrong...

Like what baraometers are you using:
Technique?
Feel?
Style?
Compositional skill?
Live performance?

Have you seen Prince play a club show, probably no, as that is where he lets rip on guitar.

You are trying to say Billy G doesn't have blue feel oozing from his pores?

Whoa- I had the exact same experience when Woodstock was on local cable TV last week. As a teenager, I thought Alvin Lee was amazing. When "Goin' Home" finally ended my only emotion was relief. Not sure whats changed....

Saw Buddy Guy a few times. never heard such a brittle, trebly guitar tone. very harsh sounding. terrible sound is right.

Not denying that Clapton is good but overrated. I like Cream and Dominos but he's hardly Jimi Hendrix.

With Slash I got the GnR, VR and solo stuff which I love but he's not that great either.

Wow, some folks think HENDRIX and Mick Taylor are over-rated?? I disagree there! And Clapton can be a bit dull on certain occasions but he is a GIANT as guitarists go, not over-rated. I think that Joe Satriani is way over-rated simply because he relies on guitar tricks, and he's fast but not my cup of tea!

Satriani relies on guitar "tricks"?

Man the guy has a lot more understanding when it comes to harmonics than Clapton, and a 100000 more "tricks".

And what's wrong with playing fast ?? It seems to be a taboo on this site.

Some people like to walk, others take a Jet.

The version <keefriffhard4life> posted is great. The guy plays with great feeling here.

Another one:

Can't stand him. Went to see him 3 years ago. Walked out after 5 tunes. I never heard such an endless babble of notes in my life.

Joe Satriani represents a type of guitar playing where Yngwie Malmsteen is the great genius ... sorry ...

and Clapton is GOD...!!!
