I don't see the band coming out of semi-retirement only to rehearse 25 songs for 1 pay-per-view show.

exactly.

24 songs, maybe, but never 25....
that would be almost exactly ...

plus Ronnie, according to rumors back in the party scene,.
Here we go again with that garbage. Why believe the truth when a juicy rumour will do. Why believe the man himself?

ALSO celebrating at the Sonys was Ronnie Wood, who told us that his radio show was helping to keep him on the straight and narrow after leaving rehab.

The Rolling Stones guitarist missed out on the Best Newcomer award only to go on and win the Music Radio Personality of the Year gong.

Ronnie, who was accompanied by girlfriend Ana Araujo and drinking a large glass of Red Bull, said pre-recording the show on a Friday afternoon had been a big part of his recovery.

“I’m doing very good – 15 months clean and serene,” he said. “The radio has been great therapy. I’ll be celebrating this with… another Red Bull!

It's like the Ronnie-Amy Winehouse stories. Either a casual conversation or, in the case of the reunion with Kat, likely a completely fabricated story is enough to convince people of the worst. Ronnie has an entire support group around him (not just Ana) helping to keep him out of harm's way. For his health alone, let's wish him well.

A limited series of "special" shows is more likely...They won't put all their chips down on one show

If there will be a tour this is the only feasible alternative. I don't believe in a one-off neither: Stones often needs about 20 "gigs" just to get in gear. A scaled down tour would be it. Less cities, less concerts.

Nah....the Stones machine is a huge juggernaut, it takes a lot of work to get it ready and chugging along, all that preparation wouldn't be wasted on one PPV show, they would at least do a few major international cities, London, New York, Paris, etc...if they were all set up to do one ppv which was going to be seen all around the world, they would have to be on top form. As stated above, it's more likely it would be the grande finale show at the end of a small world tour. London would be a fitting place to bow out and throw Taylor and Perks on for some numbers...all come back on stage after the encore' and stand in a line take a few bows and then curtain fall on the Stones. Job done.

We already know what the set list would be if they did such a show anyway so no big deal really.

Shit, I hadn't even considered the set list....warhorses from start to finish with a sprinkling of early stuff. If it was going to be anything like the Scorsese show then forget it.

hey - he can bring back another suggestion/rumor for debate here.

still up for grabs:

- the one where they remake their first album and re-pose for the cover with the original outfits
- the one that includes the first lunar rock'n'roll tour
- the one where they replace the B stage with the first-ever LMNOP stage

I've been on the QRSTUV and the WXYZ stages so that makes the LMNOP stage irrelevant as far as future relevance...

Well Wmiller, thanks for your suggestion, all l did was to post a story as l was told from someone that actually works in the music business,l did plainly stated at the start of the thread that it could be bullshit, but that TO ME at least, it made sense, whether you and others believed it or not is up to you,and there is no need to slag either me or my source, just cause you don't think it will happen,we are all fans here, and l personally felt this may be of interest to the board.THAT'S ALL...

Vegas!

A Casino will pay them a lot to draw the big gamblers. They do not have to go anywhere- just to their suites. I bet they could do 10 shows for $50,000,000 or MORE. Not a bad months wage. And, 24 songs? How about 16 or 17- that is the reality of the day (unless a lot of 2 minute songs).

I do not want this. But, it makes as much sense as anything else. Elvis, Sinatra. and the list will go on and on. We know money talks!

And, this could happen before or after the Olympics.

I have the setlist and that's not the setlist. She's So Cold, Sweet Virginia, and Imagination aren't on it.

Gimme Shelter, IORR, Happy, The Last Time, and Midnight Rambler are.

I proposed something like this a couple of months ago but was immediately "gunned down" by senior members on this forum. My idea was something like this: Play New York, London, Paris do 3-5 concerts on each place; sell the last concert on each place to the highest bidding TV company. Maybe you can cover a couple of more cities, but not too many. I don't think the usual big tour is feasible any more.

I suggested this too. I think it's the most they could come up with. World tours are over. Forget about it.

Tele, wanna bet 10 bucks another world tour happens?

...depends how you define 'world tour'..if they do 5 shows each in new york, london, tokyo, sydney and buenos aires, thats a world tour of sorts

Even if they tour stadiums and arenas for a year, thats probably not going to entail more than about 80 shows. Cant imagine another 140-150 show trek, myself.

I predict the classic stones world tour press conference with mick doing 90 percent of the talking and keith and ronnie smoking and laughing and charlie doing his iam so bored routine, and then off to rehearsals and charging $ 500 bucks for vip seats that are not even as good as the $80 seats and reading all the setlist complaints on this board LOL

Well since they probably need 20 gigs just to get in gear, lets compromise on this: 8 cities in North America, 6 in Europe, 2 in South America, 1 in Japan, 1 in Australia. Play 1-3 gigs in each city. 1 PPV on each continent. And call that a World Tour!

Hmm...we would have to agree on what a "world tour" is, and we have to agree on what the "Rolling Stones" are. Exa,ple: If they replace Charlie Watts on the tour because he doesn't want to go, it isn't the Rolling Stones anymore and the bet would be off.

How many copies did the Exile reissue sell? How many copies did the dvd of Ladies & Gentlemen sell? This should give us an accurate starting point to estimate the number of people who would be interested in an "event". Realisticly, with all of the post 2000 dvd's available, and the overwhelming demand people seem to have for them, I don't see all that much need for a one-off pay per view. Can you see the headlines... "Stones to old to tour but will let you pay $50 to watch them on tv one last time". For that price I can buy all of the existing dvd's used and wouldn't feel like I was being used. I'm still hoping that they have something left for us. Album. Tour. Yes. PPV? Not so much. I'll buy that for $7.99 at amazon a month later.

Peace,
Mr DJA

...think you're right, DJA...
And, for what it's worth: I dont buy that "Keith & Ronnie are a liability"-stuff at all.
