Today's stage:
A time trial for fine-tuning

This is the only time-trial stage of this edition. The route will wind its way through the streets of Bordeaux for fifteen kilometres, with avenues and buildings to shelter the riders. Then suddenly, they will leave the city and arrive in the open countryside, amidst the vineyards, because they will be passing through the famous landmarks of the Haut Médoc wine-making region, such as Margaux, passing one château after another. The finish is magnificent. On the face of it, this time trial will merely fine-tune the classifications; there is no way the seventeenth-placed rider will grab first place. The last time trial when the Yellow Jersey changed hands on the penultimate day was in 2006, when Landis (3rd at the time behind Sastre) triumphed. However, since then, the American has been disqualified due to a positive doping test.

BIG question for today:
Will Schleck be able to gain 9 seconds on Contador to get back the yellow jersey ?
Usually Contador is faster at a time trial, but you never can tell. Could be a very exciting race if Schleck is really good today.

big question, simple answer:

no

It would be a big surprise to me if Alberto would lose the yellow jersey today. On the Tourmalet he has proven that he's good enough, and he certainly wants to make up for the 'chain incident'. He has to be 40 seconds faster than Andy to take the doubts away.

I'm more curious if the CDA party will enter into direct talks with the PVV. But that's Dutch politics and has nothing to do with the Tour of Tours.

Well, I just read the answer to the question I had as for the CDA and PVV. The CDA has decided to enter into informal talks with VVD and PVV. End of story here, but it will go on in The Hague. It'll be a tour de force or a piece of cake, who knows.

For Andy it for sure will be a tour de force to beat Alberto today!

Could it be a Lemond / Fignon (1989) race in Paris again? At that time the differnce was 50 sec. and was beaten in a time trial, but some few seconds would not leave the ride finished. Then there will be a real fight on the last day. That's good news.

I daresay now that Contador will win today. Tomorrow won't change anything.

The trend is obvious now. Andy has tried in an unbelievable way to win today, but now he has to pay for his efforts and Alberto is winning time now. So I conclude: Contador will be the winner of the TdF 2010.

It is still a game of seconds. I never thought it would end this close. I already hear the questions about the chain accident. What if ..... ??? But "what if" doesn't count in Le Tour.

What would happen if both Schleck and Contador start or end equal in Paris?
Is there a rule for that?

The difference is exactly 39 seconds, the time Contador won because of the chain incident!!! So IF ... they would have ended equally...
