I love this tournament, hate the horns.

At least we can all agree on that, everyone hates the vulvahorns.

Germany vs England (Saturday at 10:00)

USA vs Ghana (Saturday at 2:30)

USA win was so big it caused a major earthquake in Ottawa and Toronto into NY State

Not only did the Americans overcome another officiating gaffe with a blown offsides call negating another USA goal but getting the winner in the 91st minute made it that much sweeter.

Even better, the win over Algeria and England's one goal victory enabled the Americans to win group C and send England to meet Germany. World War III on Saturday.

USA-Algeria: one goal and 11 shots on goal in more than 90 minutes. Must've been, uh, a "beautiful game!" Watching paint dry was probably more interesting.

Well, less than four months until the NHL resumes. I've got baseball in the meantime.

OOO ME ACHING HEAD!

Great day yesterday, in the pub at 2pm watched England game with a full pub of drunkards, got home at midnight (ish) and have mysteriously spent about £60 and apart from a big smile just have a bad head to show for it.

But it was worth it. England finally turned up. Just hope it wasnt a one off and that we can beat the Germans on Sunday now.

The cheer I let out when the US scored to finish first was almost as loud as when Defoe scored. I'm at a gig Saturday night and was mortified that i'd miss the game if we'd finished top grinning smiley

So now I can enjoy Ozzy on Saturday night and get up for the old enemy ding dong Sunday afternoon.

It should be a hard fought contest and a decent game.

May the best team win ..... as long as its ENGLAND smileys with beer

Congratulations to England.
I am totally surprise Serbia finished last in its group. I had even expected them to reach
the sub final.

I am getting prepared for a boring game tonight between The Netherlands and Kameroen.

Great drama that one. That Italian who fluffed the chance at the death will have nightmares for years

All he had to do was stick it between the sticks and they'd be in the knockout stages

Roll on Sunday

Both finalists from 2006 out in the first round. That's the most important and sensational conclusion so far. Has any football 'expert' predicted this? NO!

Probably not. Personally, I did say at the start that I didnt think Italy or France would do much in this World Cup (and I wasnt convinced about Germany either) and that the only two European teams who had a good chance of winning were Spain and the Netherlands, and I'll stand by that.

Didnt expect both Italy and France to go out so early, though. Not only was it a major surprise, but more incredibly who would have thought that France and Italy would BOTH have ended up BOTTOM of their groups, behind South Africa and New Zealand.

For NZ to avoid defeat in all three of their games was a remarkable achievement for the tournament's rank outsiders.

It seems that good comes up from this championship. The most greedy nations; eg I mean their players only, are pushed to the exit way abruptly. Based solely on this, I would bet on England to win Germany. I ain't a soccer fan at all ( honestly I don't like that sport) and hope Rugby will be preserved from this pouring devastating money which destroys the players whatever great they are.

Sway, that is known as "LOLspeak", and is done a lot on this site... [icanhascheezburger.com] I am not sure why they do it, but it is like "baby talk", except it is "kitty cat talk", for instance "I no eated da cheeseburger", I think they imagine this is the way a cat would talk, if a cat could speak human. Somtimes I can not even understand what the captions are saying, but the pictures and videos they post on that site are sometimes pretty funny.

Glad I chose to watch Japan - Denmark instead this evening.

Superb performance by the Japanese, with three terrific goals and a virtuoso exhibition by Honda, who was, if anything, more like a Ferrari.

They'll give anyone a match on that showing.
