Nice paper, HMN. It's only a simple football game. No human lives are at stake. This is out of proportion. Wasn't there some nature disaster some days ago in Southern France? Seems a bit more important to me. There were real victims.

Van Persie deserved a red card some minutes ago, because of kicking a Japanese player in the face! What an @#$%&.

No, he didn't. Just watched a replay a couple of times. He got tackled and while falling, rolling over the ground, he swung his arms and legs and the Japanese player unfortunately got kicked in his face. No way that I can proove he did this on purpose.

Watched Holland twice now, not overly impressed

but they've took 6 points whilst playing within themselves. a sign that they're going to go far

He did. Typically Van Persie. He let his leg swing too far on purpose. It's one of those 'professional' tricks, like the German Schwalbe.

Holland won thanks to the Japanese goalkeeper. A half own goal.
I hope they introduce the rule that playing back at your own goalkeeper is forbidden. Holland is WC playing back at the goalkeeper. It was boring and bad!

Indeed. I wasn't impressed by their play either. But yes, 6 points out of 2 games. So far only Argentina managed to do the same.

Those referees start getting on my nerves. That Australian player just got hit by the ball on his lowered arm and has to leave the pitch for that. I really think there are some doubtful decisions in this championship to say the very least. Just remember yesterday's matches Germany-Serbia or USA-Slovenia.
The responsible people of the FIFA should take more care when it comes to nominating referees. Of course you can have referees who give cards for every single tackle in a game but then all of them should act the same. It's just that there are so many matches where a team is missing a player - I feel it happens more often than in former championships.

Well, where was I? Oh right, I think it's a pity that Australia now only has 10 players on the field. It was a good match so far but now it runs the danger of becoming one-sided again.

It has been shown in other sports that when you insolate the
refs and do not "allow" (force) them to justify "questionable"
calls, it only leads to more questionable calls. If a ref makes
a bad ( widley disputed ), game changing call, he should at least
come out and admit it and/or explain what he saw. I do not think
that "paid off" ref who cheated the USA teams yesterday ever said
who the "game changing" foul was called on, and that is a bunch of
rigged up crap. Refs hiding away and saying nothing only hurts games
and makes people start think that maybe the whole thing is rigged
and wtf the is the points of playing if it is rigged? Folks can say it
was just a human thing, but 2 USA players were mugged and it is now
obvious that fkn ref just did not want the USA coming back to win the match, predetermined.

I restrained myself, to start with, about that call, but now it is pretty
much unanimous that it was a BS call (although I bet the vulvahorn loving
morons probably think it was fine call).

Yep, a fine call.

Btw: the penalty against Australia was justly given, the red card as well.

Kewell didn't deserve a red card.
But Ghana are playing better in the second half.

Australia need to attack more. And not just in this game, in just about every football match I see them play... Maybe we don't have the ability to play like that.

Wayne Rooney statement

England forward apologises for comments made after Algeria game.
The Football Association today issued the following statement from England forward Wayne Rooney further to comments he made as he was leaving the pitch at the end of the game with Algeria which was featured on television:

Wayne Rooney said: "I am as passionate about the England team as anyone. Last night, on reflection I said things in the heat of the moment that came out of frustration of both our performance and the result.

"The most important thing now is to regroup be positive and work towards winning the game on Wednesday. To do this the players will need the support of the fans more than ever.

"For my part I apologise for any offence caused by my actions at the end of the game."

Glad this has been done because it left a bad taste last night. Now all Rooney needs to do to build bridges is score 3 on Wednesday grinning smiley

Well, what did Rooney say/do? I only heard him sayng something before teh match - dissing Algeria - that caused Algerians to feel bad but not after the game.

As he walked off the pitch he turned to the camera and said something like

"nice to see your own loyal fans booing you"

In other words, saying those who've paid thousands of pounds and travelled thousands of miles have no right to boo the useless @#$%& after last nights abominaiton
