It all leaves a nasty taste - unbridled exploitation....such a rip off, is there any need for all that. At the end of the day we are talking about a few extra songs - songs which incidentally, have been 'messed' with recently and in my opinion do not sound like they even fit with EOMS and a bit of film (and it is only a bit). The Stones' marketing machine will try and bleed fans out of every last dollar/pound. What fans really want is some of the many unreleased concert films and live recordings or even a new recording but not like A Bigger Bang, that was so bad it broke my heart. I've heard it here before but why not something along the lines of Stripped - old classic country, blues, reggae songs stripped back. It would be a best seller!

I agree with crumbling mice but it is free enterprise and some fans want and are willing to pay for this stuff . I'll get some of it eventually after all the hoopla has died down and the prices drop on the official site or elsewhere .

Also some of us are getting a bit older and people just don't know what the hell to get us for birthdays , Christmas etc . this provides a fairly safe gift option for our spouses to get us .

The remastered CD and (particularly) the bonus tracks will do me. Used to be more of a collector, but now it's only really about the music for me. Nice pieces, though.

Actually they are quite beautiful. Yes, expensive, but people, good art is expensive. Frankly, it is very cool and for one of rocks most historic albums. The three prints signed by Mick, Keith and Carlie are also quite a find, and yes, again expensive, but that's art and collectables. This is a riff off the Genesis type art book. And only 200, again, I can understand, but how many people go out and buy a car at the drop of that, and instead you get a piece of art signed by them. . . Would look wonderful in a collection.

Actually the $125 road case is a great deal, and also nice. The lithographs in the box set are indeed expensive, but again they are museum quality, numbered and signed, which make them quite collectable.

...If you're walking with the 'Casino Boogie'-case in your hand, nobody will be able to read the text that's printed on it... Seems like a very elementary 'cock-up' to me.

I don't think many fans buy these items for their own money. Preferably companies buy them for give-aways to customers and so on. OR (more likely): To keep the items for themselves.

No I disagree, the lithographs are beautiful, as is the box. It looks to be very high quality, and very cool. No kitsch there, but some great historical art from a bygone era and signed! I would love to buy. I did pick up one of the 125 cases. More affordable.

You only buy what you want - you're not abliged to buy anything. If you want to spend 0 USD you can - if you want to spend 1,000 USD you can. It is a free world.

I think they are going to lose their shirts on this. However, very few promoters have ever lost money on this band, so what do I know or care*. That said, looking at all that crap made me cringe, and feel sad. On the other hand, I listened to the new single today as loud as I could blast it, and it got me in
its sway.

*The weird thing is, I do care. I want them to show a certain integrity that they haven't had for years. Realistically, The Stones have to please a huge audience, Look where integrity brought Nick Drake.

its still a nice collection of merchandise.

Its the latter day rs.com kitsch, where theyre rapidly approaching the stage where I'm expecting them to try to sell a dog turd that has a Stones tongue on it, that I find incredibly tacky and tasteless.

The Stones - for quite a while now - probably make more money from merchandise than they do from recorded music.

For all the promotion and hype around the Exile reissue, it almost certainly wont translate into record sales. They're probably hoping to make up for that in revenue from offshoots such as merchandise.

I think they will sell records from it -- thy mighty not make a killing off the music, but they'll see some coin.

I have no opinion about the merch except much of it is pretty cool -- it could be much much tackier. So, although there's maybe an excess of choices, at least it's not gotten to the dog-turd-with-the tongue-wall-hanging level yet winking smiley

I'd rather have more session tapes than this re-pro stuff.

A replica Hyatt House hotel key? I've never understood the appeal of reprinted ticket stubs and documents etc. that aren't the real thing.

BTW, I'm also pretty confident that Charlie's t-shirt did NOT have the script written on it, that is most likely faked (the image). The shots I've seen have the image of that guy, but not the wording. That's a total rs.com item.

The orange poster of the the same image did have the wording. It was used as a trade mag advert. I have an original framed.
