any ideas how much The Who got paid for their performance ?
Didn't The Stones get $3 mil .

I may have gotten spoofed, but I thought I read somewhere The Who was not compensated.

Horrible sound mix as always in the half time show. Really dont know why these bands can be bothered.

Cramming 5 songs into a twelve minute medley appeared to be a setlist for people with Attention Deficit Disorder which makes it a bit hard to really get into (and some of the segues (ie Pinball wizard to Baba O'Riley) were a bit horrid,) but they pulled it off. Pete was fine, Roger just about held it together. Could have been an embarrassment, but thankfully it wasn't.

Roger's scream on 'Wont Get Fooled Again' taking place off-camera followed by him managing to recover in time to sing 'meet the new boss' effortlessly within a second or two of it would suggest a wee bit of assistance with backing tapes, but no matter - its a TV show, not a concert and thats the way the producers probably want it to be.

I don't know a shit about american "football".
I watched the first half ( or the two first quarters?)
only to catch the half time entertainment.
Here in Norway the broadcast of The Who's performance was a catastrophy;
sound and picture was not synchronized.

According to the New York Times, The Stones didn't get $3 million, unless that was their expense reimbursement.

"The N.F.L. does not pay an appearance fee, though it does cover all of the expenses for the band and its often ample entourage of several dozen stagehands, family and friends."

You'll live longer and have a better life without knowing American football.
Ditto for listening to half time shows, so it seems.

The Who will be compensated tomorrow when they will get the 550 percent increase in catalog sales that the halftime act always gets the day after the game.

They can be bothered because the audience numbers in the hundreds of millions and results in a temporary 500 to 600 percent increase in catalog sales.

i saw this in bar and peeps born in late eighties for chrissake were totally getting off on it. there was a spontaneous extended applause in that bar...it was exciting...louder more respectful and more enthusiastic then i had expected.

I saw it in a bar and out of the 100 or so people who were there, I was one of perhaps three or four people who payed close attention to the halftime show. Then again, many of the 100 weren't paying very close attention to the game, either. Judging by the reaction to Carrie Underwood's national anthem, I suspect this crowd had strong leanings towards country music. There are many places in the USA where the Who, or even rock music in general, don't mean a whole helluva lot, and this place was one of them. I thought Roger looked fantastic for a guy who will be 66 in a few weeks, but I couldn't hear much over all the drunken talking and laughing.

WAY TO GO SAINTS!

Good buddy of mine from Metairie sent me a "Who Dat" care package, so I was the best dressed Saints rooter in Georgia, from the hat and the t shirt down to the beer holder! GREAT game, and I won the office pool, too!

Now I can afford a Them Crooked Vultures t shirt at the show on Thursday.

And, just between us, there were several times when Roger's lips did not match the singing. Any chance of a pre-recorded vocal with a click track?

I'm just asking......

The game and The Who both sucked. Congrats to the city of New Orleans.
