y.c.a.g.w.y.w.. best tour version?

In my humble opionion the B.2.B. Tour offer's an amazing version of this song. VERY well played and sung. It has great energy and Keith nails it.

What tour do you think this song is best played?

My dream would be to see/hear this live WITH the chior!!

I think that would be really amazing if on the final night of a tour they hired a full choir!

But it will never happen, sadly, just like chuck leavell leaving!! :-)

We ALL HAVE OUR DREAMS!

THe best live version I've ever heard on record is the one from Rock n' Roll Circus - the arrangement, the passion, the FIRE!
I've only seen current Vegas version live first-hand.

Sorry, but my favourite - besides the studio version - is Brussels 1973. Simply stunning and perfect - the guitar playing, the sax solo, the singing...

On the other hand, there are many versions of that song which are excellent. But a full choir live version would indeed be terrific!

Brussels 73 or NYC 75 (the Hold On Tight-boot)

Innsbruck 73 (on that VGP cd that says Berlin Oct.19) smoking smiley there's an amazing interplay between MT and Bobby Keys thumbs up beats the one on Brusels Affair imo.

Couldn't agree more. The R N`R Circus rendition of y.c.a.g.w.y.w. is the quintessential live version, in my opinion. The band is so tight and full of energy on that number ...

Other than that, I still sense the Love You Live version has a certian mythological feel to it. Sometimes it's like a bit too much, you know, the sing-along from the audience and all ... but it's a real classic.

I didn't know they did Innsbruck in '73. Are you sure about that time and place?

Good Topic!

My favourite is the Birmigham Odeon '73 version - only an audience recording sadly, but MT is on fire from the start and there's a slow, world-weary vibe to it that just blows me away...

Best soundboard for me is Fort Worth '72 (evening show). Great stoned rambling from Mick before the song starts as well!

"is that bobby"

yeah it's Bobby cos Innbruck was Sept.23. The call-and-response between MT and Bobby is short but sweeet!

1981 has the best feel. 1973 has the best performances.

I wasn't aware that there was any recording of Innsbruck '73. Berlin, yes, but Innsbruck? Can you provide more information or any verification of why you think it's Innsbruck and not Berlin?

The 1972 versions were more methodical and true to the album version but rather truncated and succinct. Tour versions were in the 7 to 8 minute range.

The 1973 versions were somewhat the same but saw the length stretched out to the 10 minute range.

Both the 1972 and 1973 versions had that annoying Mick Taylor lead sound that kind of contrasted the smooth flowing Keith rhythms.

1975 saw the song taken to new heights. The LA forum run had the song lingering into the 14 to 15 minute range but generally between 10 to 12 minutes. However the solos in the middle were just fantastic. These versions were raw and hard and slowed somewhat to allow that groove to just takeover. IMO the best of the lot.

Keith and Ronnie's best work. IMO, Some of the best lead guitar work ever on a tour.

BTW, my vote for best version would be Sydney 2/26/73. But there are lots of great versions. As for a whole tour, I'd probably go with '72 because it was new to the concert stage then.

what? not even close - they didn't even include the music bridge that they only reintroduced in modern times...
