Here are clips of the following:

01. The ABB doing "The Weight" with Levon Helm.

02. The ABB doing "44 Blues" with Taj Mahal.

These clips are screen captures from the Moogis stream. Please note, however, that, in addition to being screen captures, they are compressed for Youtube. The quality at www.moogis.com is much better. A subscription is $125.00 and you get all of the 15 Beacon shows live as well as on-demand until September. There is also video and audio for a bunch of ABB shows from the past 5 or so years (please note, however, that the quality for most of these aren't as good as the Beacon streams).

I don't mean to sound like an advertisement but I'm just so excited about this run and I want to tell everybody about it and how they can see it themselves.

Peace,

E-Duane

Oteil, Warren and Derek are insanely cool guys.

Here's some collaborations that MIGHT happen (wink, wink):

a couple of Phish guys March 12,

Boz Scaggs March 13,

maybe Jimmy Herring March 14,

Sheryl Crow March 17,

Clapton March 19 and 20,

Kid Rock March 27,

Bob Weir and Phil Lesh March 28

Or I could just be making this sh!t up.....surprise surprise

but, at $58.50 a pop, this breaks my limit, too.....decisions, decisions....

jeez, you whine about no west coast shows, then when some kind souls tell you about dates in Washington and Oakland you come up with excuses about mid week, too expensive ($58.50 is cheap) or no friends able to go in Wash.......come on Tod, live dangerously my friend.....have some fun.

...and Mark Quinones (spelling?) adds so much life to the new ABB sound. In fact, I may get sh!t for saying this but he is head and shoulders above Jaimoe.....just my opinion.

I think you're right about Marc. But I wonder if age has to do with Jaimoe's "minimalistic" playing. I may catch more sh!t for saying this, but I think that's a big problem with Dickey Betts. Don't get me wrong, he's probably the single most important influence of mine when it comes to my guitar playing, but his playing, at times, is horrid. I've been listening to an audience recording of his show in NY this past Sunday and, although it's still Dickey Betts, it's not on the same level as Warren Haynes (who, I might add, is also getting very predictable), Derek Trucks, or, my favorite, Jack Pearson (a sadly unknown and very underrated guitarist - some of the stuff he did just blew me away. A friend of mine that has more contact with Jack commented that he has said that a lot of what he plays has been influenced, to some degree, by listening to and imitating harmonica players). Dickey tends to get lost as far as tempo is concerned and hits far too many bum notes as if he's not sure where he's going. The song selection the ABB has been doing since he was ousted in 2000 could have never been taken on by Dickey. I just don't think he's as sharp as he used to be.

By the way, if you're interested, I have a couple of good sources in the US that are hooking me up with audience recordings of the Beacon shows (I received a few recordings taken directly from the moogis stream, which sadly contain too much hiss that makes them virtually unlistenable) as they're made available (I have both shows already that have been played). Maybe I can hook you up when the run is over (I've got so many shows in MP3 format - unfortunately not FLAC or some other lossless format - that may be of interest to you as well, but we can talk about that later).

So, I'm going to bed now.

Take care and best regards,

E-Duane

It's the WAY they do them - even the good ones.A better option would be to go see Dickey Betts - who is coming to NYC in May

Don't make me laugh. Part of the beauty of seeing the Allmans live is being blasted by that massive wall of rhythm! Dickey's rhythm section can't hold a candle to Oteil, Butch, Jaimoe, and Marc. All you DickeyBetts fans just need to face that the Allman Brothers Band has been better since Warren Haynes returned in 2001 than at any time since Duane Allman died in 1971 and that Dickey plays in a junior varsity bar band. That midget bully got fired for a reason and the ABB is better off without him.

as far as dickey betts playing goes i saw him live with his band and i agree the abb rhythm section is great no comparision with dickey's band .but dickey's playing has lost a step or two.whether it's age arthritis or just not being challenged each night ,because he went from the major league (abb) to the minors .so i think that's a part of it. anybody else has some ideas on this? love to discuss?

Greek,

Regarding Betts, I think as others have posted that Dickey has been an *** to those around him including ABB band members for years - that's no secret.

His playing for certain was on a down slope the last couple of years in the band. Just a guess here but I would say that alcohol played a role in that. He would play all over Warren's leads. and frankly at one show I attended his playing sounded like slop.

It was probably a combination of being a jerk plus diminshed skills that led to his ouster from the band.

WORD? What is "WORD"???!! This is NOT a rap site.

Admit it or not the Allman's have a propsensity to go on about 10 minutes too long for each song -- maybe they have a deal with the venue as one is likely to go up and get a beer while begging for the song to end.

Dickey Betts is a betetr option.
