herring did a fine job with The Dead on his tours with them - frankly, i'm a little concerned that warren can handle all the duties adequately this year.

ronnie? bad fit for the abb...hope it doesn't happen.

Hey Tod. Herring is awesome, and yes, Haynes has become the hardest working guitarist this summer. It's cool when he plays with two different bands on the same day (Gov't Mule, ABB, Dead).

he certainly was the hardest worker when i caught the hunter/allmans/dead show 5 years ago - was on-stage the better part of 6 hours.

Hot, Blue, and Righteous?

that'd be nice. it's a bit of a stretch to try to meld together the zz top and abb styles, frankly - but the results could be interesting. i'm assuming that the brothers will all be donning fake beards for the occasion....

"Jesus Just Left Chicago" might be nice. Also, Gregg singing "Tush" or "Pearl Necklace".

PEARL NECKLACE! grinning smiley or Brown Sugar (ZZ Top's one, not connected).

by the way, I'd like to hear Ronnie w/ them. He's not that kind of playing, but he's blues as well, listen to his Love In Vain w/ Faces.

March 26 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of the mighty Allman Brothers Band. For tonight's Beacon set, there were no guests and no gimmicks, just the first album and Idlewild South played in their entireties, in running order, with a Statesboro Blues encore.
