I’m listening on Qobuz. This is really a great release. Great show, and sounds great for a release from ‘77. Glad to have it. (Could really do without Hot Stuff, though.)

Quotekeefriffhards I often wonder why the Stones don't do half a dozen shows every other month for half the year as opposed to 15 shows then nothing for a year. 18 shows over 6 month's would be far less demanding physically plus playing on and off over 6 month's would mean less need for rehursing and better quality shows with more energy. Also 6 shows at a time would sell out e

The last episode came out yesterday. I think they played the entire song for the first time over the end credits. Again, the song fit the series perfectly. And the series was excellent.

QuoteSighunt Quotedcba QuoteHonestman The studio version is priceless. From the very start, it almost sound live. To me it doesn't sound live at all which means huge and powerful. The LIB version sounds claustrophobic and twisted which adds to its nasty charm. And overall LIB is a claustrophobic, twisted album, unlike BB. Only at the very end with "You Can't..." that you

QuoteRisingStone I love both, in the studio and live. MR live is of course a killer, always red-hot and crushing, but the original LIB version still retains its cool, dark vibe that fascinates me after listening to numerous live renditions. I agree. It's almost always a killer version and a highlight of the show. But there's something uniquely eerie about the album version (and not ju

Saw the first two episodes of the show tonight after listening to the song. It’s a great TV theme song, and I like it ok as a song, too. It fits the show perfectly.

QuoteDoxa Haha. It is also bit rhetorical question: like the first post pointed out, if Mick would be democratic and count the votes, he would reply something like, 'well, we already are playing the songs you guys want, thanks for confirming our current setlist'... The problem with us hardcore fans with our acquired taste is that the latter varies so much... Our favourite 'obscur

If you are halfway to an album, and then go halfway again, and halfway again, do you ever reach the end of the road and release a finished album?

Years ago, on page 140, I suggested that the album was coming in 2023. I'm hoping that was too pessimistic, and we'll see it in 2022. Let’s hope bv doesn’t have to change the title of the thread (again). But

QuoteStoneage 505 pages - would any album be able to meet that great expectations? I can think of 4: Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed, Exile on Main Street, and Sticky Fingers. Some Girls might come close.

QuoteNashvilleBlues By far? Over Pearl Jam and Neil Young? Damn! Must've been elite! Yup. They were on. It was the first time I'd seen them since '82, and I felt they were 60%-70% of the energy of a show from the classic Who -- and still the best act on the bill. Having the Ox there and playing well made a difference compared with the Who Two. By the way, Brian Wilson

My apologies. I stand corrected. My memory was not clear after all these years, and I must have confused LOUD with electric. I was at the show the night before, on the 30th, but the videos I see online from that night are also acoustic. I do have a clear memory that they were by far the best act on the bill -- which included Green Day, Pearl Jam, some of Smashing Pumpkins, Tom Waits, Br

Quotebye bye johnny The Who did acoustic shows at PRYZM, Kingston in February 2020. They also played at Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit in 1999. Those annual benefit shows were all acoustic. I was at that Bridge School concert. They followed Sheryl Crow, who was putting people to sleep. The Who came on close to midnight, and they were definitely NOT acoustic. Blew the roof off the

Quotedoitywoik For such a deal to be worthwhile for an artist, the artist must assume that the deal will give him/her (and perhaps his/her heirs) more income than s/he could get from sales, royalties etc. during his/her remaining lifetime (or beyond) - unless you're in debt up to your ears maybe and you need that much cash real bad right now. From this perspective it may have been an attract

QuoteDavidinAustin Would be something IF this ended up being the last time Mick and Keith played together, at Ronnie Scott's of all places. We all hope it wasn’t, but it’s a MUCH better place for them to play than Hollywood, Florida —- or a private show for the Krafts at Gillette Stadium.
