“Will be a long wait then, since this is page 2.” No, because this will likely be merged by bv into the new album thread soon.

Thanks for the links. Some great performances. Was disappointed in Shapes of Things. Eric somehow made that powerful song kind of boring.

The clip of the Jeff Beck tribute concert showed Rod, Eric, and Ronnie hugging at the end of People Get Ready. The vibe they gave off was “we’re the last ones here.”

It was a very good show. The top moments for me were Willie’s set, Wooden Ships, Mr. Soul, and Long May You Run. But a very special moment was Steven Stills getting ready to start Helplessly Hoping, looking over at the empty stage left, and saying “Where’s Neil?” For whatever reason, Neil was taking a break. Joe Walsh came out, and Stills went ahead with the song, missing some harmony on “t

It’s one of my favorite later-day Stones songs. While it’s not much of a tune, it sticks in my head. And I think it’s a particularly effective Jagger vocal, filled with menace. His phrasing and use of dynamics work for the song, as does his harmonica playing. As NICOS said above, not a 9 or a 10, but an 8+.

I skimmed through. Interesting when he talks about music and musicians, such as his discussion of how Jeff Beck used his right hand. His interest in an alleged presidential run by Bobby Kennedy Jr. —- OMG.

Nice to see Bill featured on the Stones’ social media — even if he’s just the butt of the joke.

Thanks for the YouTube link. It’s a great view, showing (in addition to the music and audience) the mechanics of how the show is put together onstage. We can see the placement of the teleprompters in the front, on the floor, and for the keyboards, and what appears to be the screens with the music charts for the horns. I can’t tell if the teleprompters have the chords and the stage direct

It seems like the Stones PR push for the album is beginning. These reports, and their confirmation, look like part of a plan.

Bruce has always had trouble selling many markets. He’s strong along the east coast and the northern Midwest. He’s not as strong in the west. He routinely sells out stadiums in Europe. He can only do that in the US in some eastern and midwestern cities.

I bought a pair, and will try to fly out for it. The Rolling Stone interview hinted that Richie Furay might join Neil and Stills onstage.

I’ve sat behind the stage and watched the teleprompters. He has the words and chords on the screens in front of him. From behind the stage, you can also see the next song before it starts - and tell when there’s an audible. On his tours where he took requests from audience signs, he’d hold up the sign and spin around with it. His computer guy would quickly pull up the song and put it on the

Bruce always pretends to close his eyes, while looking down at the teleprompters. He’s had that perfected for a long time.

Tough question. Some of my favorites: Stones 1972 Chicago Amphitheatre. Rolling Thunder Review, New Haven, 1975. Springsteen, Music Hall, Boston, 1977. Bridge School Benefit 1999. Crossroads, Bridgeview, IL, 2007. Rock Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary, 1st night, MSG, 2009. Dylan and The Band, Chicago Stadium 1974. Beach Boys, Auditorium Theatre Chicago, 1972. QuoteHairball Sounds like elevator music, but maybe that's what they were going for? Something you might here at dentists office, or at a grocery store...bland and harmless background music. The power — of a tremendously powerful song - is gone. To me, it’s just a fading echo of what was once great.

I’ve seen U2 4 times, going back to the Joshua Tree tour. IMHO that was dreadful. The new version doesn’t fit the lyrics/subject of the song. I’d been mildly looking forward to hearing the new album. Now — not so much.

It could be that he was talking about 2 different releases: - a new album of new songs, the first in (about) 15 years, and - a package of the greatest hits since Exile (nothing from ABKCO).

I saw The Beach Boys at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago in the early 70's (when they were a great live band). After their standard encore set, the house lights came up, but the audience refused to leave. About 5 minutes later, the lights went down and the band came back on stage. The band said that had gone to their cars in the alley behind the theatre, but were called back in.

Like georgie48, I think Tell Me would work great as a singalong. It would be a love song between a performer and his audience, with Mick explaining he needs the audience’s love - and the audience telling him they’re coming back.

I was at the Philadelphia/Aaron Neville show. Almost any song is improved by having Aaron Neville sing it -- and this one was fun, because of Neville. Agree that the Stones have many better cover tunes in their catalogue, and they no doubt realize that.
