Both albums have now sold 21 million copies in the US, although I think BIB is selling quicker these days. It seems to be selling around 1 million copies per year. Both of these albums are classics so my question to everyone is, if you had to pick only one, which album do you prefer and why? For myself, it's a tough decision, but I would probably give the VERY slight advantage to BIB just

It's true, it seems rap/hip-hop type bands rule the charts in the US these days. As far as the Styx/Journey type bands, I think they're on the whole nostalgia rebound. They were all huge in the 70's and early 80's in North America. Country music seems to have taken over the mainstream Seger/Springsteen/ Mellencamp style music that dominated in the 80's and 90's.

CTV here in Canada has broadcast the concerts since 4 am (pacific time). They showed most of the Canadian show and I saw Motley perform. It did seem very Tappish, although that's their style! Deep Purple also performed in Barrie and I was a bit disappointed by them. Ian Gillan's voice isn't like it used to be and he definitely needs a haircut. Motley's current reunion t

Hi Bjornulf, I think Freddie was THE reason Queen was the best that day. I'll never forget watching the crowd clapping in unison to Radio Ga Ga and the finale We Are The Champions.

Sounds kind of Spinal Tapish to me! In that movie, didn't David St. Hubbins say to the crowd that they were witnessing the birth of Spinal Tap Mach 2 just after Nigel Tufnel quit the band and the band were playing at the theme park and they had lower billing than the puppet show? Although, realistically, with all the drummers and other band members the band went through, the number should

I'm a bit surprised that the current version of Queen wasn't asked to perform. By far the best performance from 85.

I think that the Ottawa Renegades (football team that plays at the stadium) should do some kind of promotional tie in with the concert. Maybe half price tickets for anyone who shows a ticket stub from the concert. I'm sure the team could use the extra publicity.

Automatic For The People is one of my favorite albums of the 90's. Unfortunately, I never really followed the band after that. Favorite song on the album is the Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight. I never knew what they were saying in the chorus until I finally looked it up online several years ago. "Call me when you try to wake her up". I originally thought they were singing Coming to

4603. Re: SACD
I'll have to pick up the Sympathy Cd single. One thing to point out which I mentioned a while back, is that Satisfaction sounds alot better on Big Hits than it does on Out Of Our Heads. The acoustic guitar is in faint stereo and the drums (cymbals, snare) sound alot cleaner/crisper. I haven't listened to the Hot Rocks version. Don't know why ABKCO wouldn't use this version

Hi Rankoutsider, That's 66.5 million sold since they began. I mentioned in a previous thread recently that I thought that wasn't many sold considering how many albums they've released, but it was pointed out (correctly) that their albums are all consistent sellers, with Hot Rocks (12 million) being their biggest.

4607. Re: SACD
I bought a Sony SACD player just because I knew the Stones ABKCO catalog was being re-released. I do think the SACD layer sounds a bit better than the regular CD layer. The Stones releases are "hybrid" SACD's which do have two layers, regular CD and SACD, so they can be played back on a regular CD player. Sony has released SACD's that can't be played back on regular CD

I've liked Cheap Trick since I first heard Live at Budokan back in the late 70's. One of the best live albums of all time. I always think of drummer Bun E Carlos as a more hard rock version of Charlie Watts. I think Robin Zander has one of the best rock voices, too.

Hi MAF, Yes, I realize the reason why the Stones invited AC/DC, although their first show together was in Australia at one of the smaller venues. As far as AC/DC getting paid half a million, they could make more doing their own shows. They sold out Olympic Stadium in Munich on their last tour, which is the SUL DVD and there were over 60,000 there. As well, most, if not all, of their shows i

Shawn 20, my thoughts exactly! The Mighty VH opened for them in 78 in New Orleans and 81 in Orlando (back cover of Diver Down). Not sure if they opened any other shows for them. Also, I think the Stones would invite AC/DC to open for them again. I think they had a great time together, especially when Angus and Malcolm joined them for Rock Me Baby. Stones are probably the only band AC/DC wo

Parsons thought the song was written about him by Keith about their friendship so he (Parsons) had nothing to do with the actual songwriting.

Canadian shows are doing well because of the Ottawa/Moncton shows, as well as Calgary. Playing in cities where they've never played or haven't played in years. Similar situation happend in Winnipeg and Edmonton in 1994. Edmonton has around 1 million people and they sold out two shows at Commonwealth Stadium, 120,000 people! If they were to do a similar show in Regina Saskatchwan lik

In the liner notes to a recently released Best Of The Flying Burrito Bros., Parsons thought the song was written for him! It states that Keith gave an early copy to "Sneaky" Pete, their guitarist. He wanted him to do a guitar solo on it. It goes on to say that he gave the Burrito's permission to record the song so that's how it came out before the Stones version. Let It Ble

I believe this is their "farewell" tour. Look for another reunion in a couple years. I'd rather watch the Hell Freezes Over DVD. Can't believe they didn't include Don Felder on this tour. Guess that means more money for the others. Timothy B Schmidt sure lucked out. Joins the Eagles late in their careers and gets to reap the money on the reunions. I still think of

MOTORHEAD!! I saw them in Vancouver in 1982. It was just a couple days after Fast Eddie left the band in Toronto. They were doing an autograph session at a local record store and in walks the band with this red headed guy who no one knew (Brian Robertson, ex Thin Lizzy). Oh well, got their autographs. I remember they played Muddy Water's Hoochie Koochie Man. Who's in the band now

Hi Bowiestone. I see that list on the RIAA website. I wish they'd update it since it's from August 2003. Since then, Back In Black has sold another 2 million copies and High Voltage was certified 3x platinum so AC/DC's total should be at 66 million now. As well, several Van Halen albums were re certified so I know their numbers should be several million higher, too. I'm
