A question for our British (and European) residence regarding Slade. I was watching The Office Christmas special and they're all singing the Slade Christmas song at the party. I have a Slade greatest hits album so I'm aware of the song but I doubt many people in North America know of it. Is this song really popular during the holidays in Britain and do many adults actually know the

Hey Elmo, Not sure if you're aware, but I've mentioned previously here that the photo on the back cover of the VH Diver Down album is from the Orlando show. They're taking their final bows at the front of the stage. I wish I could have seen that concert!

I really like the Automatic For The People album as well as a couple songs from previous albums, but I haven't followed them since the mid 90's or so. I do know that they recorded their last album in Vancouver, which is close to where I live. Speaking of Vancouver, U2 will be booking GM Place for the next few weeks to prepare for their tour which starts in San Diego. Since the NHL

I think the first album to present to a new Stones fan would be either 40 Licks or Hot Rocks.

It was discussed here briefly about a month ago or so. Disc 1 will be the Bon Scott era videos and 2 will be the Brian Johnson era. I'm really looking forward to seeing disc 1 since I haven't seen alot of them yet. I would highly recommend any AC/DC fans to get the 91 Live at Donington, No Bull (live 1996 in Madrid), as well as Stiff Upper Lip Live Munich 2001 DVD's. All three

One would think that their sound system would be similar for all of their modern tours. I think the main variable is where you are sitting within the venue. I was on the floor at the front for three shows in Vancouver and I thought the sound was great, but friends sitting on the endzone, upper deck, thought the sound sucked. Dome stadiums like Vancouver, Toronto,New Orleans, Atlanta, St.Louis,

Being from Canada, I can recommend three good Canadian speaker companies that always get good reviews in the stereo magazines: Paradigm, Energy and PSB. I don't know where you live so I'm not sure of the availability but I would recommend that you give them a listen if you can.

UMT was the song selected via the web for the Stones to play in Vancouver in 98 I recall. I like the 81 version better.

I actually really liked the movie. Don't care for the song editing, though. I like the way they play Waiting On A Friend in 81. Keith is hilarious during Can't Always Get..., posing, goofing around. Anyone notice during Just My Imagination, Mick hits himself in the face with the neck of his guitar as he's doing a twirl?

Was made official this morning. I'm sure it was anticipated by all hockey fans. I'm sure we'll see a real stampede of players going to Europe to play now. One good thing is that the World Championships this spring should see all the best players from all the countries playing now, so it should be really exciting, versus the usual method of picking players from teams that didn

Don't forget Crackin Up off of Love You Live. That's got a reggae feel to it, although I have a bootleg version from 63 or 64 which is played more like Bo Diddley's original version.

How could fans have taped the Beatles material. This was before VHS/BETA or even cassettes. Would they have had a reel to reel tape system and hold a microphone near the tv speaker? I think the sound quality would have been poor doing it by this method.

I wonder why there was so much Beatles material available from the early to mid 60's as well as The Who which was all eventually relesed if the BBC made a habit of erasing old tapes? Surely there must be enough old Stones material to release a Stones at the BBC disc (or two).

I don't think soccer will ever catch on in North America because it's fun to actually play, but boring to watch. The odds are fairly good that a game could end in a 0-0 tie. For Americans (and Canadians), the idea of watching any game for 90 minutes with no goals doesn't appeal. Football is also huge in Canada and we have the Canadian Football League, although all fans tune in

Tickets for Vancouver, their only Canadian show so far, went on sale yesterday morning and the first show sold out within minutes. A second show went on sale and that show sold out quickly, too. Depending on what their stage set up looks like and if there's still seating behind the stage, 30-40,000 tickets were sold. I saw a newscast of people lined up at the main Ticketmaster outlet down

Rolling Stone magazine #74 and #75 January 21, February 4, 1971 John Lennon Interview: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE STONES TODAY? I think it's alot of hype. I like Honky Tonk Women but I think Mick's a joke with all that fag dancing; I always did. I enjoy it; I'll probably go and see his films and all like everybody else, but really, I think it's a joke. DO YOU SEE HIM M

I thought Tina already did a "farewell" tour. I think Cher's farewell tour is now into it's fourth calendar year! It's ironic how all these other artists announce farewell tours, yet it's the Stones that always get asked if their current tour will be their last, despite the fact that they never announce anything to that effect.

The cable sports networks in Canada are actually showing Swedish elite games since there's alot of NHL'ers currently playing there. I kind of have mixed feelings of the NHL players all going to Europe to play and literally taking someone else's job. I realize that the teams would want the best players available but it still must suck for the players who were on the teams and don&

I'm sure I speak for all of the Canadians on the board that we all miss the NHL as well as the Stones!! I'm sure that this season is a write off for the NHL but hopefully it's short term pain for long term gain. Wonder what we'll see first, NHL hockey or new Stones CD/tour?

Hey Mr. D I did that with my album, too. I always do it with any CD that has a sticker on the outerwrap which can peel off. The album was released in early 81 several months before Tattoo You came out. This was one of the first Stones CD's that I purchased in the mid 80's. I never realized it was one of the rarer Stones CD's out there until a couple years ago.

The RIAA counts double discs as two sold so in all of the above cases where it's a double disc, only half have literally been sold, so six million people have actually purchased Hot Rocks. Likewise, 11 1/2 million people have purchased The Wall. Looking at the top of the list, it's doubtful that anyone could catch the Eagles since their Greatest Hits album is easily their biggest sell
