To be honest I've lost count of the Stones books I've read over the last 30 odd years starting with dear old George Tremlett but most are career spanning bios and I thought that this sounded interesting. It's an interesting period and STP was an excellent read. Thanks for all comments. I'll wait for the price to go down or for one of my local libraries to stock it.

This review was in the Metro today. I really enjoyed STP. Is this a good read too? Exile On Main Street: A Season In Hell With The Rolling Stones by Robert Greenfield (Da Capo, £9.99) Zena Alkayat - Wednesday, February 27, 2008The Rolling Stones may as well have invented the mantra 'sex, drugs and rock'n'roll'. The potent combination consumed the band in 1971 as they ca

I saw them on Saturday and hated Edie. Not because I'm bored with it (in fact I was looking forward to it) but because they had turn it into a rockier version with none of the subtlety of the original. After reading the comments here I wonder if they are getting bored of it and have 'freshened' it up. Hated the first support band (what happened to having a tune?) and thought Ian

One the other hand you have Bill's book which had hundreds of pages just on the 60s. I never managed to finish that one. Perhaps the answer to have several volumes, a bit like Dylan is supposed to be doing (where volume 2 Bob?) or a directors cut book that's even longer. We'd all buy two copies of Keith's!

Is this really about a live album? It's a message to EMI and other record companies that their back catalogue is for sale. Who 'owns' the 60's Stones is that Universal? Imagine a proper reissue of every album on one label all remastered properly with bonus tracks. Oh well tis nice to dream.

I'm reading it at the moment and it's great fun but not unputdownable. It's obviously written to reach a wider audience. It's full of, how I met this famous person and stuff about his personal life but music details are sketchy. I'm about half way through, he's in the Stones but (apart from a bit about Black & Blue) there is nothing about the recording of any

I was there! Ian brilliant as ever. A couple of Hooples (Mick and Verden) joined him on stage as did Chris Spedding and Jesse malin. What a night. The only drag was not getting home until four hours before I had to get up for work. Ian is 68 and is still making good new music. Top man.

Like an idiot I booked tickets for Stones on the night before we drive all the way to Cornwall for our holidays. Anyone know how late the O2 gigs will finish?

Thanks. I've got the London years but I got confused by the discussion about the Stones version and the Jagger version. I assumed that the London years version was Stones and the soundtrack Jagger. Cheers

It's all my fault I didn't read the article properly. Musictap normally reports 'proper' releases but this was just wishful thinking. Sorry. While looking around I did notice that amazon.com claims that Sticky Fingers was rereleased in 2006 with 7 bonus tracks - I'm guessing that if this ever happened it was not official.

musictap.net has this buried away on its headlines page. Rolling Stones - Catalogue from Sticky Fingers thru Some Girls as 2CD Deluxe Editions Does anyone know what the bonus tracks will be? Apologies if this is old and well discussed news.

My brain is fuddled (and yes those two pints of Youngs at lunchtime may be contributing to this). Will there be special editions of ABB? There is a refernce on IORR to the Japanese edition having a DVD (and Amazon are listing it), but I've seen something suggesting that this wasn't happening. Obviously I shall want whatever edition has the most material (subject to cost) but I don

I confess that I loved GHS and B&B but not IORR. Why? Don't know whether it was the production or whether the songs seemed lacking. Some songs are tremendous (I've always had a soft spot for Luxury) but overall it is not one of my favourites. Over the years I've picked (mostly downloaded) various Stones outtakes but I don't always know what albums that the outtakes are

Doesn't Charlie say in According to... that touring is his job and that's how he and Ronnie make their money? As I recall he was quite candid about this.

Johnny Depp seems to have that it's happening. See scifi.com today(27/6) Richards Coming To Pirates Johnny Depp, who reprises the character of Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean sequels, told SCI FI Wire that he and director Gore Verbinski are still trying to schedule scenes with Rolling Stones rock star Keith Richards, who will play Sparrow's father, bu
