Deluxe 2CD reissues
Posted by: Braincapers ()
Date: January 15, 2007 15:14

musictap.net has this buried away on its headlines page. Rolling Stones - Catalogue from Sticky Fingers thru Some Girls as 2CD Deluxe Editions Does anyone know what the bonus tracks will be?

Apologies if this is old and well discussed news.

the bonus tracks will be all that's in the vaults.

other "deluxe editions" contain alternates and/or previously unreleased trk from same sessions and/or a live concert from that era. I'd guess...the Stones 2nd disk
would be a live concert from that era.

Ex. Elton John's Captain Fantastic's 2nd disc - '75 live performnce of CF.

I think I'll wait for the 'Super Deluxe' Box.

Very confusing site. From what I can see its merely a list of members' 'requests' for material that they WANT to be issued as a 2-CD deluxe series - and NOT material that is about to be officially released.

It lists albums by other artists that simply dont exist in released form. The Springsteen 'Nebraska'/'Electric Nebraska' combo for example - the latter sessions took place but have never been bootlegged and there are no plans to release them. Similarly, the Bruce "Live Bootleg Series" is no more than a wish list - likewise the Stones equivalent.

great news. I have alee the Who deluxe editions and it's fantastic. Bonus material is always demos, alternate take/mixes, outtakes and live. for ex. For Sticky fingers it could be Leeds 71.
But for me the greatest thing about deluxe ed. is artwork

Not going to happen. Read Gazza's post.
Well, probably it will happen when Jagger has died.

It's all my fault I didn't read the article properly. Musictap normally reports 'proper' releases but this was just wishful thinking. Sorry.

While looking around I did notice that amazon.com claims that Sticky Fingers was rereleased in 2006 with 7 bonus tracks - I'm guessing that if this ever happened it was not official.

Better swap that "bonus disc from 76 europe tour" for a 2nd "bonus disc from 72 STP"...

The amazon bonus tracks cds are Russian (I had the LIcool smiley or perhaps knockoffs, not 'official' releases, and of course the xound aint as good as on the Abkco discs from 02 (and gets worse on some bonus tracks)

not going to happen and thanks for that.. teh albums should be preserved as they are...

the extra tracks should be for a box set or what have you

its a slippery slope when you start adding tracks.. a decade later nobody even remembers what was on it in the first place

it will not happen and i will try, with my poor english to axplain why.

a true rolling stones fan would ask for a complete show from 72 or 73. OK ?

how many people would buy the record ???

only rolling stones fans - that means maybe 50 000 to 100 000 people in the whole world.

now, have a look on the latest tour. in the whole world, how many people have seen the bigger bang tour ???? - i don't have the exact number. let's say 5 000 000.

if mick decide to release a bigger bang live CD, 1 000 000 will buy it to remember the show.

i'd be very interested to know haw many bowie's Diamond Dogs 2cd anniversary CD have been sold.

1 million? have you seen the sales figures for No Security and Live Licks? They'd be lucky to sell a tenth of that amount.

i don't have the sales figures for No Security & Live Licks.

a tenth of 1 000 000 is 100 000. for the whole world ?

are you sure ?

maybe you're right...

the money the stones would make from deluxe editions (particularly the london years) is CHUMP CHANGE.... its nothing..

there's little money for the stones to be made from selling records..how many people would buy the deluxe black and blue??? 20,000????

the money is in the live concerts...

big bang tour has grossed over 400 million dollars..

to gross 400 million dollars they'd have to sell something like 30 million cds....

but with concerts they get to keep much more of the money than with cd sales...

there's just little point to having deluxe editions....

would you add an "outtake" panel to the mona lisa???

a work of art is a work of art..these are five star albums the way they are... no need to mess with them... can you imagine beggars ending with anything about but salt of the earth??? give me a break... there was a lot of thought put to the sequencing on these albums..lets not tamper.. i think these deluxe editions are just a stupid trend really that companies use to get people to buy the same albums over and over again...

if outtakes are to be released there are better ways of doing..maybe on i-tunes, a box of outtakes, a compilation of outtakes... etc.

or at least thats the way i see it..
