Quotestonesmuziekfan Does your your hard drive have "the sound of death" ? click - click - click - click - click ? I did have an external hard drive with this clicking. Looked it up at the internet and was advised to put it in the freezer for a couple of days, well wrapped in plastic. After two days I put the power back on and as instructed I hit it violently sideways against my h

Hey I had an external hard drive fail on me so I am in search of the audio for Oro Medonte 2019 - I believe it is missing one of Keith's songs but otherwise is all there. If anyone could post these files, I would very much appreciate your kindness. I have been unable to track this recording down in my replacement quest.

For a pretty good Stones rip, check out The Beaches' "T-Shirt". They are an all-female rock n roll band from Toronto. Opened for the Stones at Burl's Creek.

But it's a donkey! You are probably correct but the Stones were definitely referencing the Dylan lyric. The "donkey" does have

Bob once quoted this "Work while ye may for the night of Death doth come when no man shall work" as the reason why he continues to do it. Also the epiphany in Lucarno in 1987 yielded a similar reaction and he ditched all star backing bands and began the Never Ending Tour. He has said that what he does is like having a trade and he still chooses to ply that trade.

QuoteHonkeyTonkFlash Just saw a post from Rolling Stone that for the next Bootleg Series, Bob is considering music from his "gospel years," 1978 - 1981. Could be interesting... I, too, find this era fascinating. Will be interested to hear studio versions of "Ain't Gonna Go To Hell For Anybody" and "Coverdown Breakthrough". I wonder if there will be a studio v

As a diehard Jays fan I don't want to give up but they are in deep trouble. To win the series I think a sweep at home is required. I think Cleveland's pitching exposed their Achilles heel which is pitchers with good breaking stuff can shut them down. Hell the Jays gave up four runs in two games which should have been enough for a split. But things will likely be different in Toronto bec

QuoteDGA35 Chicago Cubs win a thriller in San Fran! Great 9th inning comeback to win the NLDS series and return to the NL finals for the second straight year! I know pretty much all of Canada will be cheering for the Blue Jays but I'll be cheering for my Cubs! If the Cubs can get to the World Series I know they'll be the overwhelming sentimental favorites! The Blue Jays are a nat

It is my understanding that Mick had grave concerns about Woody for this tour because Woody had entered his freebasing period and was not seen as reliable. Keith vouched for Woody but was hardly a model of sobriety himself. Some of these issues plagued the rehearsal period. It is true that the band was woefully under-rehearsed when they began at JFK. I attended the Orchard Park NY show (Buffalo)

I believe Keith has always related this story because he wanted people to know that it was NOT about Angie Bowie because that was the speculation at the time. Keith was not a particular fan of Bowie and did not want anyone to think he was paying tribute to the Bowie camp

Personally I think if Bob goes out in front of that Desert Trip crowd and plays the same twenty songs he was playing last tour then he is going to bomb. The Sinatra tunes are great and all that but I just can't see them going over at this event and while I like Tempest I don't think that crowd is going to want to hear five tunes from that. In recent years Bob has adjusted his setlist in

Interesting...because one of the best Dylan shows I ever saw was in 1987; must have been one of his good nights...Then I saw him in 1990 and that was pretty bad. I hesitate to criticize him, even in retrospect because

He had eclectic tastes and he ruled the stereo, so I grew up listening to everything he liked: classical, jazz, big band, show tunes, and popular music. The first music heard was classical music. The first rock n roll record in my house was The Beatles White Album. Later I dug Herb Alpert and then The Partridge Family. Then my older sister and brother listened to rock n roll. My first rock n roll records were Stevie Wonder's Innervisions and David Bowie's Space Oddity. Truth be told while I understand why it is so widely loathed, I like Sweet Neo Con partly because it was one of the first records to really blast the Bush 43 mentality - it holds no punches and Mick usually does. I get that it is weak musically and it's not my favourite Mick vocal from that record by far but there is something about that song I respect way more than, say, Highwire.

The writer knows not of what he speaks. The Rolling Stones were named after a Muddy Waters song who was in his fifties when they took the name. They sat at Howlin Wolf's feet at their own request. They played with Muddy in his eighties. Mick Jagger has redefined what it can mean to be a seventy year old. When I saw his dancing during the instrumental section of Midnight Rambler at the first

Quotelatebloomer QuoteTeaAtThree Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, July 1986 Washington, DC RFK Stadium. 100+ degrees. Dylan was horrendous. The "best" songs from that tour became "Dylan and the Dead," which every Deadhead and every Dylan fan disavows and abhors. The Dead were worse. This was five days before Jerry nearly died, slipping into a diabetic coma. On

Quoteslewan Bob Dylan Stuttgart (Germany) 1991 – the title of the bootleg 'name that tune' says all… Clinton Heylin called this the worst concert by a major artist. I have the tape. The opening version of New Morning was a drunken mess. I argue that the show improved and the end of the show was no worse than other 1991 shows but that's not saying much. Fall 1990 to Summer 1991 wa

I would say that we sometimes downplay the significance of 1963-1967. First of all I don't think you can top the Stones in that era when they played blues or rock n roll covers. Listen to The Beatles take of Carol from the BBC sessions and compare it to the Stones and there's no doubt in my mind that the Stones sound better. They were a great band from the start and the 63-67 era also f

Prince dying made me really think about his place in music. I was at the University of Waterloo in 1983 and I saw a TV commercial for an upcoming Prince show in Buffalo. I said Holy Moly to myself and bought 1999 soon after that. Started following his career from then on. Saw him in 1988, 1993 and 2002. He was one of the greatest performers I ever saw. An amazing guitarist and singer. I'd sa
