Can't for the life of me understand how anyone can hate this one...it's just lovely.

Listening to Voodoo Lounge right now, not one of their more popular albums. I love most all of it, including Sweethearts Together.
I wholeheartedly agree. Great recording and lyrics, all about coming face to face with aging and losing your love to a younger man. It's the Rolling Stones saying, "Let's try something new." And of course it harks back in a way to the mid Sixties pop phase. It doesn't sound like a Rolling Stones song at all, and that's the point. It's a finely crafted song, something they really worked on. It's something you could hear a minstrel play at a Renaissance fair.

I think everybody loves Slave. But I'm not sure it would work live. It's more like a fantastically groovy jam than a polished song, and that's hard to bring to life in a stadium.
You can see the rehearsing it in the Four Flicks video. Might work well in a club or small venue.
I don't - but I think most people do.

Also I liked 'Walking in the Sleepy City' which I found charming and some of the other poppy songs on Metamorphosis.

Not sure that Slipping Away is generally disliked except by those who hate all Keith ballads, and there aren't that many of them.

Sweethearts Together. I just love it. Rumba beat, doo-wop background vocals, Mick & Keith singing together, and the great Flaco Jimenez on squeeze box. Great pop song to these ears, but I see it regularly trashed around here. Don't care, still love it!

Emotional Rescue - although I was surprised to learn over the years that a lot of people like it. When it first came out in 1980, I was blasting it with my windows open and I heard voices outside: "Hey isn't that the new Stones song?" "Yeah, I was just talking about how much it sucks and this jerk is blasting it!" Ha! Laughs on them! Love that they finally did it live!

I hope you took them out back and put them out of their misery.

Truth be told while I understand why it is so widely loathed, I like Sweet Neo Con partly because it was one of the first records to really blast the Bush 43 mentality - it holds no punches and Mick usually does. I get that it is weak musically and it's not my favourite Mick vocal from that record by far but there is something about that song I respect way more than, say, Highwire.
