Streets Of Love i think is a wonderful ballad, i can never understand the hatred for it on this board, i feel had it been written and released in the early 70s people would look at it more fondly.

Most of all it´s that "I-I-I...-" that makes my ears bleed. As long as it contains that terrible part SOL is a clunker no matter when written/recorded/released...
And of course it´s that over-acted way of ballad-singing in general, I guess that started with Hard Woman back in 1985. Since then Mick never sang a ballad in a natural way like in the 60s and 70s.

That type of singing is very annoying on the recorded version, but when I saw them do it live at Giants Stadium in 2006, Mick put a lot more soul into it. He got very quiet with it and then gradually louder and with more genuine feeling, kind of how he did on the live version of That's How Strong My Love Is in 2002.

If it had been written and released in the early 70s, it would have been an original and not a third-hand copy of what every other rock band had already done by then.

You're right about New Faces! I hate New Faces! The worst Stones song ever!

Can't for the life of me understand how anyone can hate this one...it's just lovely.
I wholeheartedly agree. Great recording and lyrics, all about coming face to face with aging and losing your love to a younger man. It's the Rolling Stones saying, "Let's try something new." And of course it harks back in a way to the mid Sixties pop phase. It doesn't sound like a Rolling Stones song at all, and that's the point. It's a finely crafted song, something they really worked on. It's something you could hear a minstrel play at a Renaissance fair.

OK, I'll try it.
Dancing with Mr. D
Hang Fire
Blue Turns to Gray
Sad Day
Take It Or Leave IT
Sittin' on a fence
Stupid Girl (hate the lyrics but I love the bare bones tune)
I'm too tired today to think of any more.

It seems that many Stones-fans do not like most of the songs from glorious DW. I like them all, even Back To Zero. Sorry for saying it again, but DW is their last from-start-to-finish-great album so far.
Is that a joke?Quote

I could rather live without Start Me Up, Ruby Tuesday, Beast Of Burden, You Got Me Rocking than without brilliant One Hit, Harlem Shuffle, Winning Ugly, Dirty Work and Had It With You - but luckily I dont have to.
Listen to One Hit, Dirty Work, Had It With You, Winning Ugly & Harlem Shuffle in a row and it will leave you breathless.

Do as I have suggested and you will see that I´m not joking.
