Hairball, I think you're over-stating the Gloom-Rock thing. Nirvana had plenty of nonsensical lyrics and light-hearted songs (as you put it)... "Dumb" "On A Plain" "Drain You" "Lounge Act" "Sliver" "Spank Thru" ...just to name a few, are all delivered with a semi-serious, fun loving and musical approach.

You're welcome, Chris and Jaap. I plan to do some new mixes of my favorite shows from the 50 & Counting, 14 On Fire and Zip Code Tours. I have a list of obvious ones that I want to do because they contain some performances that I want to ultimately put on a "best of" compilation. I'm always open to suggestions, because I consider a lot of iorr.org users (heck, most) to

Here's a new mix I'd like to share: 1975.07.28 Cobo Hall, Detroit, MI --FLAC --> www.filefactory.com It's a single-disc remaster of disc one of Rattle Snake's "Missing Jewels," plus Brown Sugar. The Stones SBD tracks are all here, minus the Billy Preston songs, in order to fit it on one disc. Each channel was processed separately with iZotope 5 advanc

I realize nobody prefers mp3@320 files, but I'm having fun tonight listening to this show and want to share it: 2002.11.04 Wiltern Theatre --> www.filefactory.com There's no rhyme or reason to how I saved some of these mixes in lossless and some only mp3@320, other than if I started a project with the intention of sharing it, I definitely kept it in lossless. Quoteeduardoacdc If I remember well there was a remaster for Ahmet Ertegun, Thank You Kindly , June 24th, 1972. Could it be uploaded? The version you're asking about was done using shoddy gear in 2011 and isn't the greatest project ever undertaken. Here it is, though, because you asked: 1972.06.24 Fort Worth [2011 DSP Remaster] -FLAC --> www.filefactory.com While I was l

I remember Marko encouraging me to remaster his recordings. He was the first guy on IORR to start suggesting which shows to work on and he turned me on to some good ones. Still, if you're going to hold any of my remasters up to scrutiny I prefer it's 2012 or later. The equipment, software and knowledge I had back in 2011 was lacking, although that Pittsburg show was good.

QuoteBastion The lineup with Billy Cox and Buddy Miles is so much better imo. Cox fit right in with Jimi's style and I prefer him to Noel Redding. Buddy Miles was a different story, though, he wasn't as versatile as Mitch Mitchell, didn't playoff of Jimi as well, and brought too much personality to live performances. Who the hell scats into a microphone during a Hendrix solo?! P

So when a Japanese bootleg company begins selling these concerts without mentioning that WV is the source, does that change anything? Would those bootlegged versions be ok to share? I've captured the shows for personal use, but would share them with others if it wasn't controversial.

I disagree with the original poster. IT'S THE SETLISTS!!!! Plenty of bands thrived as a live act long after their albums contained anything memorable. The Grateful Dead comes to mind, so do the Allman Brothers and even U2! If you're going to hit the road and ask your fans to get on the bus year after (every few) year(s), then you have to vary your presentation. The Stones halfhearted

QuoteTeddyB1018 The 24th thing is a fairly casual rehearsal. Sheryl Crow is there singing on Live With Me. And Bo on Who Do You Love, so has to be for the PPV. The sound is great. Yep, and Robert Cray is on one of the versions of "Stop Breaking Down", which they focus a lot of time on.

Quotejimmyshelter I intended it to have a slight stereo seperation, I don't think it sounds good if it is over-done. I copied the good channel to the missing channel and added the stereo effect with iZotope Ozone Imager. Jimmy, I appluad your temperance when it comes to not "overdoing" the remasters. But all you did was create a mono image and then try to sim-stereo with iZotope

VERY COOL Punkfloyd! I set it to my desktop background too. MT is such a huge part of the Stones' appeal (for fans like me) and I find it totally appropriate that he's back playing with them on this anniversary tour. I wish they'd incorporate him more into their shows, but am grateful nonetheless that he's once again sharing the stage with the band.

Seriously, Rush is ahead of The Stones by such a wide margin? Aside from the drummer, that band sucks. The lead singer is embarrassingly bad and their songs are arena rock poop. Their fans rave about the band's virtuosity, but that doesn't make up for their god awful songs. I mean, Phish has plenty of virtuosity and can play at 1000RPM, but nobody rates them as the greatest rock band

100% agree Taylor's presence improves the band and since they've revealed this greater potential with 3 guitarists, it's an utter disappointment to watch them go with only 2. Some people on IORR.ORG are sick of hearing these "more Taylor" threads, but the majority of us are sensible enough to admit the obvious: They're better with him.

QuoteHis Majesty Horrible song, please don't! hot smiley It's an a-typical Stones song, but it's not horrible. Lyrically, it's one of the groups better efforts and the solo at the end ranks right up their with CYHMK. Still, I don't think it would come off well live. Although, the crowd doesn't seem to care what they play at these concerts. I wish someone would

Quote JumpinJeppeFlash These MT threads are so pathetic. Get it, he is not a bandmember, he is a guest. Amongst Stones fans he's the most popular guest they've ever had, so it's not exactly pathetic to say we want more of him, but I see where you're coming from...it's a distraction to keep whining instead of enjoying the tour.
