Quotestereomanic ...Logical route is do a residency somewhere and let people come to them rather than just hoping they can get the schedule they want next year. They owe us nothing or course! We're in bonus time. It's a "me too" option they've resisted so far...but time will tell.

Quoterollmops Congratulations to the rolling stones and Andrew Watt for the Grammy's win. It is a good record done by exceptionnal musicians with very long careers in the music business and a young producer totally into their music;it is 2025 and they all deserve to be rewarded for keeping rock and roll music alive. Well said mops

Quotekowalski Congratulations to the band and their new ptoducer ! But why an album released in 2023 gets a grammy for best album in 2025 ? It's the windows for nomination. [ . .. and They've actually done very well indeed to win something with an album that's not fresher off the press.]

Well that's one potential silver lining isn't it ? Come on Mick, Keith, Ronnie... If you're not going to be "treading the boards" this summer... Get your skinny little arses back in that studio, and let's be having that follow up to HD

Not necessarily strange. There could have been reasonable optimism that it could fall into place...but in the end, and as organisational deadlines loomed ...it just didn't. That said , speculation in the absence of information satisfies only our irresistible urge to share our thoughts. We can only cross fingers and toes ...and wait

I think this is the main thing that consciously, and perhaps unconsciously, puts me off on-line music consumption, and why I stick stubbornly and anachronistically with hard copy disc. I want to be able to play the music I love whenever I want, whether I have an internet connection or not...and not dependent on whether this provider or that chooses to make it available.

I think you're right ...but listening to whole albums just isn't the way that most folks typically consume music in today's world.

I think the Stones give sufficient notice with tour announcements under today's circumstances. Ii makes sense, whilst still allowing folks enough time to make arrangements, to wait until they're reasonably sure that everybody is going to be fit and well for the campaign. Announcing a tour and then having to cancel or postpone would cause far more hassle for everybody.

Good information about Brian from a source with balanced views would be great. The problem with most BJ focussed resources is that they follow the "Brian was lovely and the rest of the Stones were horrible" template.

Anybody remember that ludicrously long lead Ronnie had at knebworth, allowing him to wander to the end of that wide stage extension...with a crew member following him to pay it out and make sure it didn't get all tangled up ! Or the ten minutes it always took Quo's road crew to untangle that massive knot of leads before the encore

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotetreaclefingers I love this album...however I also notice that on the CD version it is very loud. It's too bad as I notice when you turn it up a bit in the car it hurts your ears, which can't be said of their other CDs. I guess it's the modern way of producing but just glad the vinyl version isn't like that. I think the blu ray is also much better.

and there's the rub. There are so many versions of the Rolling Stones, and they can't all be everybody's favourite version... ... but there's plenty to please us all !

There's certainly more optimism these days that something can be cobbled together in good enough quality for a Knebworth release ... ..and it would be a big shame if that looming 50th anniversary didn't deliver us something .

A bit too much "polish" is the one thing that perhaps affects the whole album a little.

QuoteMathijs QuoteSpud Some musicians found it easier to adjust to the early wireless transmitters than others. Not because there was anything wrong with the signal, but because there were no longer the signal losses associated with cables, especially longer ones. This required EQ adjustment and left many early users thinking that wireless systems had an overly bright, cold and hard sound.

I always wonder whether they really do ignore the reality that every tour could now be the last... ...or whether they do, between themselves, seriously entertain that thought. ...because that could ultimately have great influence on where tours finish.

Both Keith and Ronnie have had many great moments since then too...Keith was pretty hot for much of the B2B related tours ... That said, for better or worse, the modern era arrangements have allowed those two old scallywags to get away with murder... and to often spend more time posing and clowning about than playing the bloody guitar !

Quotetreaclefingers ...I think what you see in the 1989 detent, was Mick giving it another go but under the proviso that the show be modernized and made professional - we get what amounts to "Vegas Stones", which I know has been derided but I would argue was necessary to have the band function this long and into old age. The previous shambolic stage show, though loveable had to b

That's it...not for everybody of course.. But perhaps due to their stature, and little bit of luck, the Stones have managed to retain some "cool" with generations younger than those who grew with them.

I suppose much of the picture for any "heritage" artists revolves around the size and affluence of their respective ageing fanbases. The Stones are perhaps lucky in that their fanbase spans a number of generations and also in that attending a Stones show has, over the last 20 years or so, become one of those "things to do at least once" .
