I loved that Vaults option of the vinyl and DVD package. That said ...I've hardly ever watched the DVDs.

Theatre and club shows have nearly always made for better live recordings than stadium shows. I suspect that part of this has simply been down to the very different nature of putting on a show of that scale, on huge stages with all kinds of delay issues and technological solutions thereof. There's less musical interaction, and many of the subtleties of timing and touch are inevitably

Yep, Keith know what he likes... and Pierre knows how to get it . He's like Keith's musical bagman. Come on Pierre , lets have a book ! something like the Stones Gear book...but with much more first hand insight and depth.

QuoteBig Al Yeah, it’s pleasant. We are, however, applauding a man for something he mastered in his bedroom: aged 15. Well done for remembering those licks, Keith! I think you're missing the point a bit Al. ...It's not about remembering those licks, which most of us could probably play when we were 15 ..It's about Keith Richards still delivering seat of the pants

Keith's always been "perilously close to being out of tune" ...it's part of the charm ...and, as the saying goes "...it's close enough for Rock N Roll "

Quotepaulywaul Quotepoor immigrant Keith sounds great !!! You think so ? Really ? We're obviously hearing different things. To me, he sounds perilously close to being out of tune ! Pauly...after all these years, to discover that you don't know what Rock N Roll sounds like . Well, really !

George, Could I trouble you to have a word with with my Mrs ? She thinks a dozen or so is far too many...and I daren't suggest to her that the same rule should possibly apply to shoes and handbags [...and maybe posters to this thread should also own up as to whether they all still fit ...and not just then trendy baggy jobs from the 80s and 90s ]

Didn't know that Keith owned quite so many of those early high power twins. I sometimes think that Pierre is the real collector of all those guitars and amps. Keith may be the museum's patron...but Pierre is the director and curator . I'd love him to do a book for all we gear nerds about Keith's guitars and amps...with stuff like how he likes his Gibson ES series

QuoteIrix QuoteSpud You see.. that's why I still listen to records. The RS records by ABKCO and partly the 1971-2016 Vinyl-Box are based on the DSD format. Same with the UltraDiscs by MFSL/MoFi. Yes ..but to this day, very little of what's available to stream is in such a good digital format .

You see.. that's why I still listen to records. The streaming platforms think its a big deal to make Hi Fi quality music available to us ! ...and so little music is routinely available online with adequate sound quality

Totally different things there max. Vibrato is a deliberate wobble in the pitch of a note ... whereas Legato refers to a smooth fluid way of playing, where notes are perceived to flow into each other .

Quotetreaclefingers The thing about Mick, like Frank sinatra, or Bob Dylan (or a number of other examples), he doesn't have a classically great singing voice, in the way a Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury or Roger Daltry have. What his voice has, is charisma. His phrasing, ability to bend the words, twist the syllables, slide in and out of accents and falsettos, actually enhance the emoti

IORR was an important album for me. I was 15 when it came out. I'd only been a fan for couple of years and had seen them live for the first time in '73, which cemented my love for the band... , ...but I was still struggling to get to grips with Exile and to some degree GHS. I just wasn't ready for the chaotic energy of something like Exile ... IORR was then an entire

If you want to "collect" this thing...fine. Just make sure you don't actually use it for anything other than a paper weight. It won't make you records sound any better... and it's weight may help your deck's main bearing to wear out in double quick time

Coloured vinyl my backside ! It's an affront on my old record deck's dignity ...it told me years ago actually, I've nothing against folks who into coloured vinyl .... ...but when it's easier to get hold of many albums on coloured vinyl than it is on black...we're getting a bit silly !]

The bit that tickled me, though its been said before, is the bit about whoever was last in the control room determining whether Mick's vocal or Keith's guitar would be loudest in the mix. A little more seriously, for periods in the past Mick seemed to prefer his vocal buried quite deep by normal standards. Maybe it was confidence thing...or maybe Keith was winning the arguments ?..

Bloody casual fans ! If it weren't for them we'd be able to the see the Stones in clubs and theatres all the time... Oh, hang on, wait a minute. Wouldn't be worth their time . They'd have retired donkey's years ago. We shouldn't knock the casual fans . They're the reason we still have the Rolling Stones

I think folks often forget the main issue when discussing all this stuff ..and I'm probably going to to bore many of us to tears with the below. The reason we have music and enjoy listening to music, the whole reason the music industry exists, is that music gives us an emotional response that we have a love and a need for. The most important factor in how that music communicates wi

Quote1963luca0 Generally speaking, the best sounding albums are those from EMI-Electrola and EMI Japan. In comparison, the CBS releases from late 80s/early 90s are not as good. Maybe, this also depends on thinner vinyl, but I’d leave the last word to audiophiles. Yep, the German Electrola pressings from the EMI era were very good...but shouldn't be confused with the EMI badged product

I've always love it when they've covered Eddie Cochran . Some the greatest Rock N Roll songs ever penned...combined with Stones' unique approach and delivery.
