very very impressive. Marvellous Music. And I like the fact that he has retired as a liveartist. I'm not interested in seing another phoned in "greatesthits"-show.

Agree! Quotesaltoftheearth A catastrophy! Compare it to the Honolulu 1966 recordings or the Paris recordings which are way better and could be released if properly remixed. Agree 100% . A horrible release. A catastrophy! Sounds like a fakerecording to me. And Yes... Compare it to the radiobroadcasts from Honolulu, Paris or Melbourne. So much better.

Love it. So many great liveversions. 72, 73, 81-82 and 95 are my favourites.

QuoteTurner68 In general with the stones on the 72-78 live performances the vocals are bad and don't constitute singing at all in many cases. Mick's singing in 81 is better, and in 89 much better. 69-71 Untouchable 72-73 pretty good 75-75 Awful 77-78 ok 81-82 Very good 89-90 good, But way too polished. The rawness and sex (the main ingredeience) in his singing were gone.

Fantastic photos! They are Plaiyng records to decide what songs to rehearse. Mick putting on Emotional Rescue (yes it's in the photo). Starts dancing. Keith shakes his head...says NO! Always wondered if ER was rehearsed in 81.

Quotegeordiestone Mick barked his way through the early 80s and his dress sense was just as bad. Barked? And the dress sense ....ok in 81/82 ....the all time low were the tours in 89/90 and 94/95. When every hip band in the britpopera wanted to look like the Stones did in the 60's and 70's. Mick didnt realized that. Only yuppieclothing.

QuoteDandelionPowderman But there is no «dangerous voice» on Flip The Switch? Not like in LIS. But to some extent...it is. It works better because he isn't trying too hard.

QuoteTurner68 you're so right about dancing with mr. d. it's mick's "i'm dangerous" voice but it always comes off as silly. yes. When he tries too hard to be cool. The same thing with a lot of his moves on stage in the last 25 years. It works a lot better on "Flip the Switch" though...

Well I think they've been great live since 1994. And my favourite version of Gimme Shelter is the one from Paradiso. But it's certainly not their peak as a liveband. 1972-73 - the last years with MT were great. Nicky Hopkins, Ian Stewart and Billy Preston ....i mean Chuck has done a lot for the Stones....a lot. He deserves more credibility than he actually gets. But ....Chuck i

Chic must be in the hall of fame. The most important act in the discoera. Nile Rodgers still has it. The Smiths and the Cars are also great candidates.

Huge dissapointment. I loved Talk Ischeap, Wandering Spirit and Main Offender. I had big expectations....and then came Love Is Strong and Vooddoo Lounge. Remember watching the MTV premiere of LIS and being confused. The album isn't that bad though. But a bit boring and too many songs on it. Love Moon Is Up, Thru and Thru and Sweethearts Together

The first half of the tour was way too sloppy. But the second half of the tour including Ernie Watts was terrific. Just listen to Hampton The 89-tour .....I don't want to talk about that one.....The keyboards, the haircuts, the clothing, the inflatable dolls or wolf....

QuoteStanlove You can see the disappointment on the fans faces. Typical of the 81 tour. Just not a good tour. My favourite tour. Or a Close runner up to the 72 tour. Hampton is their best Concert ever IMO.

What I like about this album is the playfulness. Good melodies and interesting ideas. But in a cheap 80's production and often half finished songs. Voodoo Lounge was a more homogenouse album. An album with a direction and with a better - but boring - production. The problems concerning VL were just the lack of playfulness and lack of strong songwriting,
