>But it's great to see Taylor on stage with the Stones. Ronnie "forces" him to say a few words. Can someone post a link?

You can vote for up to 50 favourites from the list of all albums which hit the #1 spot on the British charts. Rather interesting to see what made it to #1 and what didn't (e.g., EMOTIONAL RESCUE made it but not SOME GIRLS or TATTOO YOU, unless I overlooked them). Dylan's SELF-PORTRAIT made it to #1!

>The 5-night run in 1998 was their first appearance there. Which means Monday will be their first show there I will miss (sigh).

I got no complaints: "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction". And in the UK, the Byrds' version of "Mr. Tambourine Man".

>there's no way they bother to learn/rehearse something special for one gig, is all I'm saying.... Maybe but they did for Shepherd's Bush ("Moon Is Up", "Melody"). And the '97 Toronto club show ("Shame Shame Shame"). And Hyde Park ("I'm Yours, She's Mine"). And Altamont ("The Sun Is Shining"). There's

Someone above mentioned the cover of Luna's PENTHOUSE; the photo for Dylan's CD was previously used on a Luna single, "Hedgehog". See here:

>im dissapointed no NOLA.. Me too. Did they have a falling out with a promoter down there or something? It's been 12 years since they played there, and the place could use some Stones vibes right about now.

>I think they spent some time together in the mid to late 70's.Low key visits, no photo's, Actually there are a few photos of them together from that period. There's a funny story in the Warhol Diaries in which Mick was offering Interview editor Bob Colacello a spoon of coke when John Lennon walked in the room; Mick rushed to give him a hug and put the spoon under his nose

>Bill was a very important ingredient to the songs that were cut when he was around. This was very much true in the first 5-7 years they were playing together. One of the great things about the SACD reissues was that it shined a light on how great Bill was especially in those early years.

What makes you think Knopfler didn't like Taylor? I thought bringing in Taylor was his suggestion.

Weird coincidence: a friend just alerted me to a new book that's coming out soon, DONALD CAMMELL: A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE. This is the first book about the extraordinary, decadent life and enigmatic creative works of Donald Cammell (1934-1996) whose first film became a classic. Innovative and provocative, Performance brought a new sensibility to modern cinema. Although it immediately

If you're interested you should track down the documentary DONALD CAMMELL: THE ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE. Includes exclusive interviews w/Mick. Also there's a good book on the movie as part of the BFI Film Series, authored by Colin MacCabe.

If there's anything more boring than musicians past their sell-by date it's "fans" who still feel the need to hang out on message boards for bands they've lost interest in. I mean, why bother?
