I was in college. I had seen a concert on the '72 tour (which may still be the best concert I've ever seen). I loved the earlier albums. I loved the Stones. My roommate bought it. And I felt really let down. I hated Angie. Always have. I thought it was way too pop. Also, too much of the album (and the marketing) seemed pointed in the glam rock direction -- which seemed like th

I thought so at the time, and get what they are saying. They're not saying it was the worst album. Of course, Dirty Work was the worst album.

I thought I was the only fan of Ride the Tiger. If I remember right, it was the first song with Marty back with Grace and Paul, several years after Marty had quit the Airplane. The Airplane and the Jefferson Starship were very different bands, with different feels from the beginning. The early Starship was great. After the first few albums they lost their way, as the drugs and the 'lat

"Personally, I'd rather just enjoy the memory of the Kinks, as set forth on their best records (Kink Kontroversy through Muswell Hillbillies). I saw them about 10 times between 1978 and 1993 and have seen Ray and Dave as solo acts. The Dave show that I saw in DC last year was bad. He's not back in form. If that's what he's going to contribute, no thanks." Sadly, I

"The biggest failing of the film in my opinion is the total exclusion of the other members of the touring band." I think this is the first time anyone on this board has asked for more Chuck!

Now if they would just get the message and do a blues/R&B tour, where they just sit down like old blues men and play. Mick doesn't have to jump around the stage anymore. They could play arenas and fill them without the showmanship. Or they could play theaters and charge outrageous prices, with some Lucky Dip seats. Or they could just do a sit-down set at arenas for 1/3 or 1/2

I've seen Eric about 7 or 8 times. He's usually, but not always, better when spurred on by other top performers. The best shows were a great show on a mid-70s solo tour, when he was reportedly on some nights and off some, the '07 Crossroads concert, when Winwood and Trucks spurred him to some fine playing, and the Cream reunion show. I saw 2 or 3 arena shows in the '90

I'd always hoped for a sit-down mostly blues tour. Still do. (I'd take an hour long TV concert in that format.)

"Everyone cites this, but isn't SFM about how the singer can't so much join in the revolution in the streets but just plays in a rock and roll band?" That's one interpretation, but not the most common one. See for a discussion. In Chicago, we certainly understood it as catching the spirit of the times, with the Stones saying which side they were on.

We don't own them. There is irony, though, in playing SFM to this audience at this event. The irony would be increased if this were their last US show.

Sounds like the Soldier Field ABB show. An outdoor show to an empty stadium in a northern city in October, with the performers suffering from the cold.

"Keith Moon was a massive part of their sound. And that's an understatement." So was the Ox. The Who were four showmen competing against each other. They are still a good band with a great catalog, but Pino's bass is turned down and Zak, for all his skill, usually keeps time. As with the Stones, the menace is gone -- but we need to be thankful for what remains.

The Etymotics also did nothing for me. Drug store earplugs are rated as up to 30db noise reduction, which should, I would think, provide much greater protection than the Etymotics --though the drug store brands may, perhaps, filter out different frequencies unequally. I'm curious what SSJagger has to say about the comparison.

I remember reading about the Benny Goodman quartet reunion tour in 1973 coming to Ravinia park, outside Chicago, and thinking that some day it could be Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Little did I know that it would be a major industry 40 years later -- and that I would be going to some of those reunion shows.

I was at the September '02 United Center show, and it was an excellent version. I think it was the first, or one of the first, times they had played it. Ron was concentrating hard, and looked very pleased he could pull it off. By January '03 at the United Center, it was old hat. Ron tossed it off, but it didn't have the same air of mystery (could he/they do it?) and concent
