Thanks, Dean. You helped explain to us why this thread isn’t a sticky.

They seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel. Bill Mazeroski may be next. (American baseball HOF joke. May not translate over the pond.)

Ron had some rough shows for a while. Many of us said so at the time. From my review of a 2002 concert on IORR: “Ron was more active and playing better than last time. On the last tour, he seemed to be going through the motions, and struck me as striking poses that were a bit of a parody of a rock star. This time, he was more integral to the action. The "weave" was working perfectl

I thought it was time to bring this thread back. I agree with doxa. When it came out, this song struck me as an unintentional self-parody. It was the start of the slide from the years when every album was "relevant" -- capturing and leading the mood of the moment. All these years later, and after hearing the new live videos, my view hasn't changed. Others will differ -- a

I listened to this SFM video, posted on the Hot Stuff page. I'm glad to hear the song seems to be a keeper in the set; its one of my favorites. I have one question: is the piano playing at about 3:20 what folks call "plink plink?"

If they played the Satanic Majesties album straight through to promote the new release my life would be just about complete. I can't say I'm counting on that.

He ruled at the 2007 Crossroads festival. I hadn't seen him live since Traffic, and was looking forward to seeing what he had. He absolutely brought down the house with his singing and presence, and he brought Clapton up 3 levels. But what most stuck with me was how well he played guitar. On a (very long) day of the greatest players, he stood out. I saw him once after that openi

I heard One Hit to the Body on the Radio this morning for the first time in a long while. I forgot how much oomph it packs. The song grabbed me from the first chord, and the tension in the music was great.

I heard Gotta Get a Grip on WXRT Chicago today. It didn't present as well on the car radio as in the video (and I was kind of eh about the video). Mick seemed a bit low in the mix, oddly.

I finally saw it Saturday 29 July, the next-to-last day of the Chicago run. I enjoyed it. I brought a friend I'd taken to the 1975 Chicago Stadium show. She really enjoyed the exhibit. We arrived when it opened at 11, and there was a small line to get in. It never was crowded. They've been advertising discounted tickets the past few weeks. You all know the details of the exhib

The Art Institute is a great museum, as are many other Chicago museums. To get outside, many folks enjoy the Chicago Architecture Foundation tours -- especially their river cruises. Both are fairly close to Navy Pier.

I get kind of concerned, when bv talks about a longstanding 2012-18 plan, that those stories about the 2016 private Kraft show being the last show in the US could be true. Especially if 2017 is Europe and not Britain. That could leave 2018 as just Britain. No info here, just a little paranoia.

They're advertising pretty heavily on Chicago television. Perhaps ticket sales are disappointing so far? Did they advertise heavily in NY? London?

I saw the first comeback concert with Dylan in Chicago in 1974. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. The atmosphere was electric. Later in the tour, Dylan and The Band are said to have hated it, and the excitement was lessened. But that show was special. The Band had an instinctive feel for each other's playing that only the best groups have. While they were all great, I

I watched Rock and Roll Circus for the first time in maybe 15 years yesterday. I forgot that No Expectations, one of my very favorites, was on it. I also forgot just how magnificent a slide player Brian Jones was. His touch on the song was achingly delicate. Your thoughts?
