Quotebluesinc. these licks songs i think are just ideas in many ways, we have the hurricane outtake i think and then we have two numbers on the licks dvd, so maybe thereĀ“s not THAT much Ron and Keith talked about 25/30 songs and not simple ideas! In any case, the problem is the quality of these songs/ideas and if those songs are like 'Losing My Touch', 'Keys to your love', &

QuoteRedhotcarpet They may have 100 unreleased songs from 1989, 1993 or 1996 but all it took was three or four golden pieces to make TY into their last great album. I or some other fan could easily go through their vaults and make an album, mix and produce it to make it sound good but the problem is, I think, that they surround themselves with yes-men who has to put up with and please Mick and or

Quotejp.M ...and the 20 tracks recorded in Suresnes in 2002 at the time of the "40 licks" album....!! ?.... "(...) Playing new music really tightens the band up. Getting everybody together for a month in Paris, I didn't mind if we came out with no tracks at all. But as it turned out, we came out with 30 tracks! On our very first night in Paris we got three tracks down. Every

Quotethewatchman QuoteJames Kirk So if you were to combine the outtakes/new songs into a 2011 version of "Tattoo You" would it be better than "A Bigger Bang" or any of the other recent Stones records? Should the Stones have just cleaned up these songs or other songs still in the vaults and maybe written a few new tunes and put it out as a "new" album in the vein o

I think it would be better to use these outtakes: ...especially if the quality of VL/B2B era outtakes are similar to "Anyway you look at it" or "We don't wannna go home'.

QuoteGazza (....) 'You should have seen her ass' is better than 'Laugh I Nearly Died'? Seriously? Quote I don't like LIND (this is subjective) but we can replace 'You should have seen her ass' with 'Separately' or 'Criss Cross Mind' and the result is always the same: a great album.

QuoteMadMax Are ya all, except for KRIFFHARD, taking the piss?!?!?!?! A record based on I Need You, Separately, Misty Roads, It's All Wrong and Family would arguably become one of their finest ever!!! I Need You as a lead single with Keef on lead vox!!! Now THAT would be a bold move!!!! I agree with you...and we are not considering the possible hidden gems!

I don't think it's subjective to say that these songs aren't on the 'high standards' of the greatest r'n'r band in the world: Keys to your love, Let Me Down Slow, Streets of Love, Losing my Touch, Brand New Car, Dangerous Beauty, Stealing my heart, Suck on the jugular, Driving too fast, Low Down, Infamy, Already Over Me, Sweethearts Together, Gunface, Baby Brea

QuoteGazza 'Something similar' ? They're not remotely alike. Most of Tattoo You consisted of songs that were 1-3 years old and the oldest was 8-9 years old. This was at a time when the band were putting out a new record every 12-18 months. Quite a lot of Stones albums include songs that were written for previous albums but took a long gestation period - Beggars, Let It Bleed,

They have done something similar with 'Tattoo You' - one of their biggest commercial success - and i don't think it would be so outrageous "to dig out 40 year old outtakes and pass them off as a 'new' album". Imho this would certainly be a great Stones album, not a masterpiece...and prevents the danger of listening other 'Streets of Love', 'Swee

QuoteGazza It's Jagger. Stu's on percussion, apparently! The reason why the released version is truncated is because Jagger felt the anti-Arab 'sentiment' might be too controversial. Whatcha talkin' bout Mick ?!!

I would not be wrong but 'Petrol Gang' seems to have the same sound of the bootleg version. It seems that compared to other songs P.G. have been taken directly from the bootleg, then cut and inserted as a filler.
