At Monkee concerts in 1966 and 1967, they had a huge screen positioned behind the band where they showed slides, film clips, etc. Sometimes they would show clips of civil rights marches during I Wanna Be Free and other stuff (including the Stones). Looks like an agent took his daughter to show and tried to connect the dots. Hey, if RFK told them to spy on MLK, then even the Monkees are fair game.

"Of the sixty-nine Colombo episodes produced this is the only one in which the murderer implies he could bang Colombo’s wife. Johnny was so Alpha! And yet sympathetic at the same time." Where/when does Tommy Brown say this?

Huge, huge Columbo fan here, Swan Song is in my Top 5 episodes. However, I can't see Keith and Parsons watching these--except maybe the first season--and even then the dates are iffy. The Richards/Parsons thing is so blown out of proportion at times. Next thing you'll find out is that they memorized every episode of Get Smart! or something. Best lines in Swan Song is Falk, at the end

Quotelaertisflash "...the Vietnam war was justified..." I thought that only Chuck Norris could say that in 2020... Norris had a brother that was killed in Vietnam.

L.A Forum, July 10, 1975. Watching that lotus stage fold down and then HTW. Lord have mercy, that was awesome.

The 1975 Brown Sugar-NYC-flatbed truck announcement looks like V4s to me. I still have mine that I bought in the late '70s. Great for that Stones-Faces sound of the era, but I can't haul that to gigs anymore.

I think Ian Stewart had the best ones, "You think you're good musicians, but you're really a bunch of screaming nancy boys." "Rolling Stones? Name sounded like a family of Irish acrobats."

She and Glen Campbell did a terrific album. Ode is not only a great song, but it's also a great record (something that's been missing for the past three decades).

Do those speaker/lighting towers obstruct views in the upper decks a lot? Should they be avoided?

Martin was reading cue-cards written by some Hollywood TV writer. I don't think he cared either way. It was what TV was at the time.

It's because he was a novice at it at the time. Sometimes that can work in a musician's favor.

It was 1973, and I was Beatle-mad because my sister had left her Beatle LPs at home when she went to college--that and a regular listener to AM radio. My next-door neighbor was also Beatle-mad but was 16-18 months older than I was (a big deal in pre-teen years) and had bought Goat's Head Soup. He told me, "I think we should listen to these guys." Then I saw the clips on Don Kirchne

Quotejlowe Had forgotten Stephen Stills was in the frame to be a member of The Monkees. Appears his thinning hair and teeth let him down! How shallow. No one knows how far Stills got in the audition process. I don't think he did a screen test. Stills says he really wanted to write songs for the show, but when he found out they had Boyce, Hart, Carole King and those folks, he backed out a

QuoteAquamarine I loved the Monkees, and saw them live in London at the Empire Pool in 1967 (possibly 1968)--it was a terrific show, and by that time they could all definitely play their instruments and then some. RIP Peter. Wow, you saw one of those gigs? Early July 1967. 4 or 5 gigs, I think. Lulu was the opening act, and it was promoted by Brian Epstein and NEMS. Got good reviews, too.

Probably from interviews promoting Love You Live. That jacket looks familiar; I've seen it in other photos.

I asked Michael Lindsay-Hogg about this a few years ago on his FB page, but I didn't get a response (although he did answer another question of mine not related to this). Keep in mind, we're dealing with a band that doesn't care about any of this; plus there's no real market for it, unlike the Beatles. Odd, too, that, MLH hasn't responded about the new Let It Be/Get Back

Regarding a link above, Prince never went on a 6:00 or 7:00 at night. More like 2:00 in the afternoon or something. And it had nothing to do with race, or women in his band, or Reagan or anything like that. It was just a rowdy R&R crowd of the time. I do remember the Doors having a big renaissance at the time, though. I remember, too, that Throrogood peppered his between-song banter mentioni

I was at both shows. Keep in mind that nobody knew who he was (more later). I remember the audience throwing trash, but only people in the first 20 rows or so could have done that. This was still a beer-and-bong crowd, and from the first few rows, he looked like Hendrix. Funny, I still remember the thigh-thighs and trench-coat on the first day. Perhaps I'm wrong. Don't recall him on th

The boot I have from Cleveland seems to start out good but kinda loses something; maybe the weather (didn't it rain that day?). Are there any tapes from Boulder? There's very few ph
