OK, the Stones haven't made another Exile. Big news, huh? I think he slags their studio stuff a little too gleefully. And, BB King and Buddy Guy have "grown" but the Stones haven't? Say what? BTW, I could use a good Bumgardner. I've been having trouble keeping up with the weeds. :-) Karl

This just came aross the Associated Press wire: "Rock-a-billy artist Hasil Adkins, a one-man band whose screaming vocals and freestyle approach to rhythm landed a cult following, has died. He was 67. Adkins' body was found yesterday at his Madison home , where he lived alone. The cause of his death has not yet been determined. Adkins first emerged in the 1950s, only to disappea

Odd-beat, Agree with you a little bit that the album is over-rated. I think it's a great disc, but not quite up to LIB or EOMS. At the time of its release it was warmly received because it was such a return to the roots. No posturing or silly acid noodling. This fact, IMO, is why it's always been so highly regarded. Have to disagree though about Keith not having his "soni

The Stones ticket prices will be ridiculous, and that's bad enough. But what really bunches my panties is the practice, (also pioneered by our "Boys") of making me pay months in advance of the show. This month McCartney sold tickets for shows in October. That's a six-month loan to Sir Paul at up to 250 US dollars a ticky. At an average ticket price of $125, and an interes

1519. Re: Tours
sdstonesguy, I feel much the same way. Ticket prices, like most everything in a free-market system, are set by what the next buyer is willing to pay. When that amount gets too low for the seller to offer the product, no sale. When the offered price is too high, no sale. Good old supply-demand. I think the Stones have offered a lot of supply (four tours in nine years), and my demand no lon

I'm an old bugger who very much digs vinyl, and has a vacuum tube amp in my main stereo (uses EL34s, any of you guitar players have fav tube brands?; I like Svetlana and Sovteks), but...despite a nice warm bass, 8-tracks were pretty much the pits. Lots of tape hiss, mis-tracking/bleedover problems (maybe more of a hardware problem) and the VERY annoying split-up of songs between channels.

Deidre (A fellow Dirty Work devotee!), You make a lot of good points. The only saving grace of the song in my mind is Jagger's vocal. Like all of his studio work since SW, he's really strong here. Karl

The Rolling Stones "squeeze" money out of their fans? They wouldn't do that, would they? :-) I think they have benefitted many times in the past, purposefully or not, from this notion. I really hope that the current rumors are untrue about them announcing a Final Tour. As Gazza or somebody posted last week, this would be really distasteful. Much better to simply walk away a
