A very under-rated album. I think it might be Jagger's best. Great vocals on Silver Train, StarStar, Heartbreaker, and Winter. GHS has 1-2 more weak tracks than LIB or BB, otherwise would be considered a classic. Don't understand the opinions on the sound/mix. Sounds as good as SF IMHO.

Shepherd's Bush 98, "Melody": Keith (I think) plays lead lines all the way through the song in some totally different key. Not a good thing that this thread is so long, but that's the Stone I guess!

Yo guys, just taking a little pee there on the old Wood/Taylor (Lorenz/Taylor) argument! Actually I'm enjoying the tunes immensely! karl

I think Jagger had dyed his hair black for a movie, "Performance" I guess.

I guess if we can both remember 8-tracks, we both have hazy memories (and in my case many extinguished brain cells). :---) karl

On the 8-track version, Miss You is also different. Has a longer harmonica break, if my memory serves me correctly.

Don Was is a pretty cool guy, and I like his band, but it's time for the Stones to find another producer. They need to re-think their sound some. The last three albums have been too studio-shiny-perfect and BTB in particular has a very compressed sound (I know that wasn't all Was-produced). I think they should go for someone a little more exotic like, I dunno Daniel Lanois, Todd Run

Wasn't LSD being researched as a treatment for schizophrenia and other mental disorders in the late 50s and 60s? In fact it was legal in the US up until the mid to late 60s. Seems to me there was a clinic somewhere in the western US where doctors had quite a bit of success with it, but when acid became available on a large-scale basis to recreational users it became "demonized" a

I didn't look through all the MS shows, but here's an interesting performance: --Rod Stewart and Keith Richards - "Sweet Little Rock and Roller" and "Twisting the Night Away" b: 25-Apr-1975 They also list Mick appearing in 1974 with videos of Happy, Tumbling Dice and Midnight Rambler. From Ladies & Gents, I presume. Great link Pserchia! karl

An ex-girlfriend saw one at the RNR Hall of Fame and swears he's a size 4!!!! 75: Terrible clothes. Liked the long hair, and think it's his best "dancing" tour. 78: Loved that red/pink cap he wore! 81: Everything

1973-78 is kind of an interesting period. I was 15-20 yrs old, so I feel a little bit qualified to speak about it. Whereas most of the people older than me (60s crowd) had a mostly homogenous musical taste, my generation kind of split into groups. You had 1) hard rock-metal types that went for Sabbath, Zeppelin, Deep Purple etc. 2) the glam-glitter-punk types: Dolls, Bowie, Stooges, Mott, T-Re

I think they will continue with the B-stage concept for one important(?) reason: It allows them to sell tickets in the middle of the arena/stadium as premium seats. karl
