Start Me Up from a snippet on the national news broadcast from Oslo in 1990 got me hooked on the Stones, so naturally I still love the live versions during Steel Wheels and Urban Jungle tours. What you ask for is a better mix??? I`m afraid that doesn`t exist. Apart from the mix (or just the available equipment it was recrded with) it is what it is. Surely Don Was or Bob Clairmountain could do some ”triggerthings” to the drums or something, but the album wasn`t that popular. I have to say that Criss Cross leaped straight into my ears and heart. The song drives forward like little else, thanks to Charlie and Keith (and Mick T on bass?) clearly beeing on top form! Sleazy vocals and lyrics from Jagger as only he could do it in the early seventies. In comparison, Ghost Town didn't excite me at all.

Yeah, a real shame they actually started to take their music seriously, but I agree on the sound on the album. Way too polished and thin. The musicianship however, is excellent. (A considerable amount of overdubs, I know.) The Tokyo Dome release is much better soundwise.
