altamont69 - You probably live about a block away but what the heck lets contact you via the global web. Mark here.......I have been wondering about the posted time they use. Are you sure the 10:00 is west coast time? If we get it wrong it works against us. Off to Nanaimo for one of many 50th birthday bashes this year, will call Sunday or Monday.

I have a slightly different tack on this issue. A Stones show is allot of 'big sound' in a couple of hours and they seem to know it. They need to make a show more dynamic to keep from subtley boring the croud. For me the least enjoyable tour for me was 81....guitar piece after guitar piece. Each one on it's oun a great arrangement but stacked up for 2.5 hours, I'm sorry but

Such as it is Fourty Licks. It's not for a die hard fan so the subtleties would be lost anyway. I have had some good reviews form folks who bought this as their first Stones album.

We have had best concert, worst concert....anything scary happen at a concert you were at, dangerous maybe? At a J. Geils and Status Quo concert years ago during the break, an electrical cable failed sending a fountain of white elecrical sparkes showering some of the croud and sending them scattering from their seats. Staff got on the mikes and tried to keep everyone calm. Strangley everyone j

Gordon Lightfoot.....in an arena. Could hear the people yelling in the top rows to turn it up, over the PA. Had to sing your own lyrics to get anything out of it at all.

OK....found the show....Voodoo Lounge, BC Place, Far Away Eyes. So besides harp and guitar you are telling me Mick never learned even one song on steel?!? Not for one night did he ever even try it. Keith was co-singing, sorry if I confused anyone with that.

I'm not as good at remembering specifics as to what show but Mick played slide on Far Away Eyes While Keith stood beside him singing, guitar hanging at his side. Priceless.

Other items that offened: Jennie's belly button Double beds on TV Mick was a woosse.....Morrison had the right idea....tell Sullivan you will change the lyric...don't do it....and when Sullivan trys to make you think you blew and won't be asked back, you straighten him out by declaring 'we have already been on your show'(we got our publicity).

I am of two thoughts on Stills. First I did get to see CSN&Y in their hayday and listening to him knock off Sweet Judi Blue Eyes was one of my all time favorite live tunes...however it is sad to see his decline. Second check out the Concert at Big Sur movie. I lost all respect for him, Nash and Crosby because of a scene where a stoned hippie is dancing between the band and the croud and

If I am correct it may not reffer to a specific 'kind' of writing more than it may apply to who or what you are writing for and it being published as their 'feature' piece (most improtant, most indepth, selling feature on cover). So a feature piece as I am describing it could be for any one of the examples you gave, or subject, but would be considered the most comprehensive

Michael.....when it comes to Stones tickets I bite my tougne and bear with it. The girl friend and I are already looking forward to making a nice weekend in Seattle out of the tour. Either side of the border in this area is a win win....except for that damm dollar. I must say I was particularly disappointed that after complaining to both Ticketmaster and the Stones production company last time

Michael....lets just see who is being ripped off. First...the US is the biggest market and it would follow that it is those shows that will be used as the base for other countries. Others are constantly reminded that the US is the wealthiest country in the world...share the wealth...consider the differential aid to Canada (OK the last sentence is an attempt at humor). Second....the vast maj

With the now family atmosphere of a Stones show I miss the smoky, drunken, stoned aspect of a good old fashion rock show. I went to a music fest about two years ago and did not have any herb, I can honestly say it was the first time since about 1969 that I saw any kind of live music straight...it sucked. My one haven is a Stones concert, I mean were else is it more aprepoe (spelling?). First,

Elmo said it best.....I too like to expose my kids to all kinds of experiences from Monster Trucks (daughter loves them) to concerts. Took my 8 year old son to BtoB, fell asleep for the last three songs, but then again I passed out for three songs in 72...different story. Best part was my Ex had to take my daughter to Britney Spears to make up for us going to the Stones. If you want the kids

For years I played the redial Ticket Master game. Then found a way to at least pair it down. You can order tickets through them from any office for any show. I got my last tickets that way by phoning an office 5,000 miles away from the venue city....I live in Canada so that kind of distance is valid. Just pick a city that looks sleepy with little going on to compete.

I talked to a fellow that would apply for a hearing aid piped in from the sound board. With a small set of tools he stripped wires and hooked it to a cassette player.

Here's my take as a career long fan and I am impressed by the younger fans that as we say 'get it'. Rock the way we worship it ruled up until about Exhile. Glam rock and other forms of music started taking the spotlight in the frenzy of increasing multi media....instead of being the next best thing to that other band the Stones got lost in it. Very few actually got to see the

Wuudy....no they opened with Brown Suger, TD was a few songs in. Monkey Man....they played Tacoma....the Seatle Kingdome fell down in a big boom. Hairball....listen to the song, the end of the first riff is puctuated by a pause/small power chord, part of the magic, plenty of time for jesturing. I'm guessing allot of folks don'tget the gospel feel to this song, it's one of

14th row in Tacoma, Licks. Keith is standing in the shadows behind the speakers centerstage, the video screen is black. Just as some random small twinkling dots start to appear on the screen, simulatniously Keith starts to walk out of the shadows as the first few notes of Tumbling Dice become clear. As Keith heads for the center of the stage the dots increase in numbers, the image is getting b

I think you missed the point...it's not what the Stones do...it's that you may be competing with more closet fans if the idea that this is the last chance you have to see them becomes an issue. If I was the only guy going for the last 30 years and now I have a list of interested fellow workers...start the multiplication on competion at the box office. The issue arises with it being h

I have been working in the same office of about 100 people ( a statistical population) for about 20 years now. BV was correct. The No Security stage set up rehersals were in the Coliseum. There was this cute TV news bit when a reporter spotted some semi's outside the venue and asked what was going on. The minute the driver indicated he could not answer the reported got real interested. He found a guy going in a side door and asked him what was going on...same reply. The next bit was right out of a

Living in the Pacific NW of NA has always been frustrating for Stones venues and the pattern of venue choice was just starting to make sence. Alternating tours on both sides of the Canada/US border. With Vancouver and Seatle so close it makes sence and they had their day with double stadium shows. But the Kingdome is history (Seatle) and even Mick stated at BtoB in BC Place (Vancouver) that they

Some great points made, but I will speculate "Even more importantly, Britain was crucial in giving proper recognition to the American blues artists who were often shunned in their native America." "It seemed like America was never that proud of them. Because of segregation it was something that was kept in the back room," he said. I'm not sure blues artists were

Bob05.....I don't think your timing could have been worse. I was playing the BtoB DVD this morning over breakfast. My mind started to wander to thoughts that yes...even I... a die hard fan....must come to grips that all things considered this could be the last 'big tour' (not trying to start a thread here)....just then Keith lit up Tumbling Dice and I thought I may never get the ch

I guess you guys don't want to hear I leave the front door open 24/7. In Canada the thinking is, if they want in they will break the door down, why have to but a new door as well. Yes Micheal Moore was telling the truth. Not to say we do not have our share of mindless insensitive stupid crooks....tee's me off to no end hearing this type of crap....my condolences. Now I'm n

marvpeck....this was my fourth Arlo show in 30 years and was his best. So if it's been awhile now is the time to get caught up. This time he has his oun history to joke about and it's incredible to hear him keep up his humor while trying to pay tribute to some incredible performers. You know how you always wanted to actualy hear Alices Resteraunt, well he gets close. Makes a great
