Sorry Baboon Bro to keep you hanging....I do have to do some work while at my computer....ChelseaDrugstore nailed it...great video off Bette singing in a club with a walkway into the crowd....early in the song she singles out a male from the audience to come up onstage and it's Mick...she belts out the lyrics while Mick and her perform a mating dance...classic. Her cut is a real electric gui

I'm sure you fellow older fans played the ticket game well and snagged those front few rows on Keith's side....well done. You have gotten the first bit of Stones experience satisfaction....but's lets have a reality check. October in the Pacific Northwest is wet and cold...prime arthritis season. Look at the stats, it always rains on the poor little kids on halloween so you will

So I spotted a Bette Midler "best of" CD in the pawnshop and snaged it right up.........why? As a discussion point I think this is one of my favorite music videos.

I had to laugh at last nights Canadian news showing the lads showing up for the days rehersals. They showed Mick, Charlie, Ronnie showing his $500 US running shoes. But they were most amused by Keith's very colourfull headrag and a strange orange beverage he had in his hand exiting the limo....gee... real news there. Also caught another version of the credit card commercials they are runni

I have always been facinated with band personality dynamics that bring bands down. This movie just covers that so well. The build up from starting to get back into form until that one night when everything gels. The movie being narrated by the sound engineer, the guy who faces the band and see's them from another perspective....very well thought out. Watched it a couple of weeks ago for the

I think the last true, what I would call a contaversy involving the Stones was having to change the lyrics of Lets Spend The Night for Eddy. In those days things like that had a little shock effect on the public. Quickly after that the world got real jaded. Having a song like Undercover critisized was a little old hat by that time. I do grapple sometimes with why the Stones are not less hyp

It has been my experience the Stones conscript either a top notch band who can hold their own or someone who just gets lost on stage (just not enough presence). Now, I have not followed top Billboard bands since Disco altered life on earth as we know it today.......Educate me please....are any of these scheduled backup bands that can hold their own? I am familiar of course with The Hip and I l

A couple of observations for with sssoul and Doxa. First perceptions of how big any band was in 73 is diferent than now. Doxa was correct in Japan and other Asian countries not only being strict but it also extended to western culture, including sixties rock. I doubt the Stones had anywhere near the following westerners would have at that point. Media was not as prevelent on a world scale.

"And the concert at all was like a cheap hotel-show in vegas" I love this description of classic Americana. I have seen several acts over the years, older performers whose act and bands have been, I'll say...reduced... to this. This is what a western Canadian would characterize a Vegas type show as.... 1) the main entertainer does not take the stage for two or three so

I regularly play Drunken Angel, I Think I Lost It, Right In Time on the old guitar, amonst others....or just jam to the album...great sit back on the couch and play music. Was making out with the girlfriend in the kitchen the other day and You Took My Joy came on, my girl friend says she has a new favorite song...something about the rythem....you will have to play the song and visualize the ry

john r / T&A....when I say overproduced I mean in comparison with what a band sounds like live. In CCR's case your comments about the 'quality' and such of CCR records I totaly agree with. But after I saw them live I gravitated to the fact that much like the Stones their live versions realy rocked. Songs that came off one way on the album (smoother, cleaner, et.) came off as up

How can Donovan be called 'too Austin Powers'. Check which side of the cart the horse is on. Donovan was the quintisential hippie musician, light, whimsical, love , peace, flowers. At the time Donovan was Donovan, he was very popular and my kids still love singing Mellow Yellow. Ya see...Austin Powers is a parody of the Donovan stereo types of that era, so being a parody it would it wou

I've said it before and I'll say it again. There is little live material for CCR out there...get some. As others that have seen them will attest, their records were very over produced...live their songs were played faster and with more pure R&R feel.

I was watching that Denzel movie "Fallen" the other night and they use Time Is On My Side as a reoccuring key to the plot throughout....got me thinking how much I liked some of the sixties songs I grew up on when they did include them live...Under My Thumb, Time Is On My Side. The only disappointment I had with Licks tour was not including a couple of these songs to balance out the 4

Keith has said you don't want to catch them during their first few shows. Even live the Vancouver show lacked any kind of pollish, it was lively though. I think this is one of my biggest pet peeves about the Stones. Fans jump hoops to get tickets at huge prices and the band uses this time to hammer out a product. Kind of a slap in the face to the first shows fans. It's a real dilema f

Vancouver, First Night Lets see, if I recal it was the first time folks lined up over night for anything (tickets that is) and we got the last 7 before they sold out. Only three of the seven of us got to go because parents did not like the bad hype the show was getting....the bad boys of R&R. Stormed the doors and ran to front of stage, do not recall any barriers and we were squeezed ab

Thanks for standing up Richard. What you are doing is healthy, rounded interests. I like 'artist's' for their 'art'. With the exception of opera which I was raised amonst I can appreciate 'talent' or 'personal gifts'. If you compare talents you are missing the point. As a male vocal artist....name one with a better voice? If he played near me I w

I love it when folks twig some good old memories. I too had the PR&R 'best of' but after owning most of their other albums. I was into the DC5, Swinging Bluejeans, Beach Boys. My first album though was Mitch Rider with classics like Devil With A Red Dress/Good Golly Miss Moly (now that song kicked for it's day, still have a copy on CD). Although I grew up through all of Elv

After 10 months of making payments I got to see the 'two' dances my daughter had been rehersing in the year end dance recital. They split it up into two shows (one dance each) so I had to buy tickets for both. Well I sat down and did the math, after 10 months of lessons, outfits, pictures, flowers for the leading lady and tickets about $1,100.00 CDN ($1,400 US), or $550.00/dance. Now

Broke down yesterday and bought my first electric guitar. A Jay Turser Vintage Series Tele copy. Well it did not take me long playing around with the overdrive and delay to get a pretty good JJF simulated. I started watching the FF video to try and confirm if I had picked the correct pickup setting (rear only for that lovely twang). The video clips are so tight and fast I had a hard time confi

I have been so disappointed with the Canadian press on this thing. It's like it's another (SARS) tourism promotion. Instead of talking about 'the cause' it's how good it would be for Toronto's economy...oh no....they want it in Barrie....what about Toronto...whine whine whine.

Two comments.....do you think a band that needs to overdub most released live tracks want's you hear what they are realy playing. Get the SAR's boot and listen to what they sound like mixed as a normal band. Second...you can have crystal clear sound in a stadium (covered) that will capture every sweet note. Problem is the thing takes about two days to set up and is now impractical fo

Shezeboss seems to follow the advice I have seen from profetionals, try them, others do not know what you are actually looking for. The entire acoustic sound of JJ Cale is played on a $50.00 used Harmony acoustic with 5 pickups glued in, so it's in the ear of the beholder. One point not covered is that they make 'Acoustic' amps specific to the enhancements for semi-acoustic guit
