Hello, It's almost that silly season again (no, I don't mean The Stones out on tour) when I attempt a fairly ill-advised cycling challenge in the hope of raising money for a deserving cause or two. Last year's 30 day trek from Seattle to Miami raised over £7500...a lot of which was down to IORRians. BIG thank you! IMG_1494 by nicholl.simon, on Flickr This year I'm cyc

Hello, This was probably the shortest journey (about 6 miles) that I have ever made to see one of my favourite artists play...and the ticket price of £24 didn't hurt either, hah-hah! I'll not bore you with another retread of a review/report (alright then, no need for all that cheering!) but suffice to say, if you look at the setlist then that is why I admire this man and t

Hi Gregor, Spot on! Re JB and his take on the 'My Generation' solo part...probably the worst that I've ever heard, hah-hah! I take zero pleasure in writing that, and he is in an impossible position for that. In the event it did not matter one iota, as the thrill comes from the segue into 'Cry If You Want' which is one of the few occasions that anything approaching s

Hello, I saw a couple of shows by this shower recently: the one in Manchester on Tues 4th and then Sheffield on Monday 10th April. As per, there are a ton of photos (thanks BV for hosting etc.) and a review of sorts in between the two shows... I had booked the Sheffield show about a month ago when I was lucky enough to get a 4th row aisle seat: t

Hi RF & Bungo, Go see, if you can...I'm giving you a 'money back if not 100% delighted' guarantee on this one! The band (apart from the two principals) is Glen Gregory on lead vocals, Berenice Scott on keyboards, Jessica Lee Morgan on acoustic guitar and sax (not at the same time...alright, I'll get my coat!), on right-handed Les Paul James Stevenson and on left-hand

Hello, I was really looking forward to this show and had bought the tickets pretty much as soon as they went on sale last year: my anticipation only grew after hearing Woody speak for an hour or so at The Louder Than Words festival last November- as fine a raconteur as a drummer. He was also good enough to listen to me ramble on for a good minute and then shake his hand for the inevitable phot

Hi Mike, Really sorry to hear about tonight: Dave said that he had a little cold coming on but it didn't affect his singing in any way. The upside of sparse attendance might allow you to get a great seat or two at Albert's place...I hope! Hi RF, Dave hasn't been over to the UK since 1875 I think, so this outing is very welcome indeed, hah-hah! You're right, he is a te

Hello, This was my first time seeing DM but I had a good feeling about the show, not least because of the reasonable ticket price (£38), but moreover because of his legacy. For once I was spot-on, hah-hah! He and his three pals (drums, guitar and keyboards who also supplied the bass a la Manzarek) delighted us with two sets of about 45 minutes each. The only downer was the turn-out: the 170

Hello, I saw Ian and the magnificent Rant Band last night at the Royal Northern College of Music- the same venue that I saw them at two years ago. What had changed? Well, Mr. H. seems to be two years younger, unlike the rest of us. Not joking! The other given seems to be just how great this band is- it's a particular treat to see two brilliant guitarists (Jim Mastro and Mark Bosch are

QuoteTheGreek Quoteloog droog I met Ronnie that night, and got his autograph. I was driving down Sunset with some friends of mine to see Southside Johnny and Elvin Bishop at the Roxy. The street was totally unlike the bumper-to-bumper traffic that now is the new normal. Traffic was spaced out and moving at a good speed. We drove past this group at the curb about to get into a limo, and my

Hi Ben, I was going to be in the same boat as you, looking for a spare too but I can't get down south now. I'm convinced that there will be tickets available online tomorrow at some point and even it that and The Pilot Inn fail, do try at the Indigo box office. Good luck to you and everyone have a great birthday bash! Cheers, Simon.

Hi Folks, Sorry for the lack of updates, although you may well be quite content with that, hah-hah! I'm now in Alabama and have about another 800 miles to go, and fly out of Miami on the 12th October...time is tight, right? The latest blog's Song Of The Day features one that you *might* know... Hello, This was my fourth time seeing Elvis and I had hoped that he would still be peddling the brilliant ‘The Spectacular Spinning Songbook’ romp through his greatest hits: rarely have I seen an audience (or band) have so much fun during the two times that I was lucky enough to see it! Anyway, at 8.05pm Elvis, Pete Thomas, Steve Nieve and Davey Faragher strode, bounded, shuffled and loped on

Hello, It's almost that silly season again (no, I don't mean The Stones out on tour) when I attempt a fairly ill-advised cycling challenge. Quotegrzegorz67 People who push in at standing shows. Selfish, and it often leads to fights. Witnessed a very nasty incident at Hyde Park 2 in 2013. I was at the 1st of those 2 shows at Glasgow SECC in 2003, in the seats. I must say, it looked mighty rough in GA standing from where I sat! Hello, Prior to the headliner appearing, Damon Gough aka Badly Drawn Boy played a 30 minute support set which went down well. He left us in no doubt as to how utterly pissed-off he is at the result of last week's referendum too...blimey! At about 9.10pm Beck and his band climbed-up onstage to a literally deafening ovation from the 2000 punters: he seemed a little taken aback by the
