QuoteMathijs QuoteJordyLicks96 Interesting how after all of this time, Nico's The Complete Works lists this song as being recorded in March-May 1970 instead of 1969. Anybody know why the recording date might have been changed? Sound wise it fits better to Spring 1970, where they recorded Travelling Man, Stop Breaking Down, the first electric versions of All Down The Line and I'm Going

To me, the two songs have very minimum similarities in the end. I guess the Stones thought people would call them out for ripping off "Heatwave." I think "Built That Way" is original and could have been a great single for them.

Quoteryanpow QuoteJordyLicks96 Quoteryanpow Just listening to this collection again and "Built That Way" is a stand out track for me. What a wonderful groove the whole band is in, would have been a great song If they finished it. Is that Chuck on Piano? "Keep It Cool" is another good one. It's kind of like Jazzy a version of Fingerprint File, and it has that New-Wav

Posted on timeisonourside: Mid-to-late February 2022: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, with Matt Clifford, are likely holding recording sessions at GeeJam Studios in the northeast Portland parish of Jamaica to resume work on the Rolling Stones' next album. (Mick Jagger posts pictures online on February 18 of his presence in the area, and reveals to a journalist he is there completing an al

Quotesf37 I recall reading at some point that the audio used in the video was accidentally chosen instead of the LP version, but the band just stayed with it nonetheless.... There are a few other videos whereby Jagger sings "differently" over the otherwise LP music - Angie (both versions), Fool To Cry, Far Away Eyes and Miss You come to mind. One of the Angie videos is of an early

Between the Buttons vs. Revolver This is another tough one for me. I've listened to Revolver a handful of times and there's something about it that doesn't completely do it for me as a great album like Rubber Soul was. As for Between the Buttons, I think it's a bit weaker than Aftermath but the singles are much better than the singles on Revolver. Between the Buttons wins t

Aftermath vs. Rubber Soul There's no argument that both albums are huge breakthroughs artistically for each groups. There's no right or wrong answer. I'm going with Aftermath. I'm using the UK version as it is far better than the US release. The Beatles 4 Stones 2

The debut album with the early version of Tell Me would be a great find. Someone has one up on ebay now for about $1500. I'd also love to find the Shelley pressing of Hot Rocks with the alternate versions of Brown Sugar/Wild Horses.

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteJordyLicks96 Just bought a Mono Let It Bleed on ebay for very cheap!! The LP is known for being released with pressings of the unboxed and boxed Decca labels at the time of release. Got the one with the boxed Decca logo which was only in production for one month (February-March 1970)!! EXCELLENT! Something I do not yet have. When you say cheap, can I ask ho

Out Of Our Heads vs. Beatles For Sale For the first time I'd say the Stones have the better album here. Out Of Our Heads wins this round.

The Rolling Stones, Now! and A Hard Day's Night This is the first time where the Stones make a ton of progress in catching up to the overall quality of The Beatles' albums. Still, going with A Hard Day's Night as the overall better album.

QuoteWitness QuoteJordyLicks96 Quoteironbelly Technically, if you start with England's Newest Hitmakers, then you should put Introducing... The Beatles or Meet The Beatles! for comparison. Otherwise the pair should be The Rolling Stones vs. Please Please Me. I'm picking the US albums for the Stones and the UK albums for The Beatles as those are the most popular markets for them

To those saying it should be a US-US or UK-UK comparing, by all means compare their releases however you like. I only picked the Stones' US albums & the Beatles' UK albums b/c those are the most well-known/popular releases overall. If you feel the UK albums are the ones to compare, go for it. If you feel the US albums are the ones to compare, go for it.

Just thought I'd start a friendly discussion/debate and pair up every Stones album with its Beatles counterpart. For example, the Stones' first album England's Newest Hitmakers against the Beatles' first album, Please Please Me. Going to go all the way up to the Beatles last album and won't be including the album Yellow Submarine. Will post the next matchup every other da
