In my recollection the sound of concerts in the (mid-to-later) 70s was often better than in the 90s, 00s or nowadays (also Tull, Floyd, Santana, Doldinger etc.). The way I remember, the volume was generally lower and you didn't experience the distorted sound you often get today. What could become an issue was a venue with just concrete walls all around and accordingly unpleasant echo or reve

It appears like both Jack and Ginger knew that musically they made a very good team, they just couldn't get along on a personal level. Ginger used to complain about Jack playing too loud or interrupting his solos, in addition to him feeling he should have gotten a writer's credit for Jack's songs in Cream. BBM was certainly financially motivated (at least to some extent) and Gi

No cause of death has been released as of yet. It is known that he had some surgery recently but no details (see ). Appears like it was some longer-lasting illness, or at least his death did not come totally unexpected (" ... with his wife at his side ...", Washington Post).

Quotejlowe When it comes...there will be a terrible emptiness across Mother Earth......nothing to talk about. Once the present new album is out there'll soon be thread "Next New Stones album for whenever" to carry on speculating. One way or other, there'll always be a next album some of us will wish to be released soon (and it better be a good one). So no need to be afraid o

Quotedcba QuoteKoen Just don’t buy it, that’ll teach ‘em! That might send the wrong message. The message that the market for expanded, carefully researched, re-releases of "golden age" albums is dead. If they looked around they would soon realize that the market for expanded albums and box sets is just florishing madly. Consider the recent output of The Grateful Dead or King Crimson

I'm confident it's just a matter of time until Zim's next album will pop up out of nowhere. I wouldn't be surprised if he had already recorded another 20 or so songs that he holds back for whatever reason. Dunno, I'm not following each and every bit of Bob news, but could his band be approached for info or are they subject to a vow of secrecy?

Just realized I seemingly had never listened to the All Things album in its entirety. Possibly wasn't pregressive enough for me in the 70s ... I wouldn't call Neil's song a direct rip-off, yet George's song may plausibly have been a source of inspiration ...

QuoteHairball New song - Neil Young with Crazy Horse - Rainbow of Colors Unfortunately a yawner...wtf...and as some pointed out in the comments it directly rips off George Harrison's beautiful Behind That Locked Door. Might be time to dig back through the vaults, though there's still hope there will be at least a couple great tunes on the new album? Neil discovering the Irish in h

Quotenick1970 Has the emotional rescue album got any redeeming features, or is it merely disappointing?? It's got Down In The Hole on it. If that ain't redeeming, what is?

QuoteDandelionPowderman Kimsey was only credited for his previous work that ended up on those compilations, methinks. Don't think he has worked with the Stones since 1989? Could be correct. His last regular albums for the Stones were Steel Wheels and Flashpoint (from Voodoo Lounge on it was DW). I thought they perhaps brought him in again for the compilations but him being listed only beca

I remember reading a long piece about Rubin's work with Black Sabbath on "13", which rather resembled a prolongued reviewing procedure (as e.g. in publishing), thus "homework" and constant urging to change or revise things indeed! It possibly wouldn't hurt the Stones to undergo such a procedure - but (me thinks) they would never accept it. Rubin seems to focus a

Quoteslewan in contrast to Bob Dylan's vaults the Stones vaults seem to be rather empty. I can't see any way the might be able release something that comes close to the maestro's endless bootleg series releases Yeah, ths is my impression too. Bob could release several CDs with unreleased songs without having to spend a year in the studio doing overdubs to make them presentable (n

I guess the "problem" with Don Was is that both Mick and Keith seem to get along with him and so he's someone (the only one?) both can agree on.

I'm not sure how much stuff is there in the vault that could justifiably be released just the way it is. It doesn't really seem that there are lots of songs that are ready-produced and were just left off some album because they didn't fit, or the like. Considering the bonus discs of EOMS and SG, it seems that whatever was fit to release got released on the original albums. Aside fr

QuoteHairball ...those turds are the crème de la crème (for lack of a better term)! And quite fittingly those guys call themselves Gelatin (or Gelitin). The text says they are from my home town, though I must admit I hadn't heard of them before. LOL QuoteHairballIf the Stones would release turds of this quality, most people would be quite pleased! Quoteukcal ....and can anyone agree or disagree that the market does not want a stones and who album at the same time. I guess that round these days, the folks that make up the target group(s) for a new Who or Stones album could afford to buy two albums at the same time. They're no longer 13 year olds saving their pocket money.
