QuoteJordyLicks96 QuoteHairball The album was lame, but the tour was great! Was it a "magical" comeback? Perhaps so, but mainly due to the tour. It's definitely not a great Stones album by any means but a lot of the songs felt fresh and the group felt revitalized, especially after UNDERCOVER and DIRTY WORK. Hairball almost takes the words out of my mouth. The tour (in my case

QuoteHairball If you listen the entire album backwards there's a vast improvement. Even Streets of Love becomes somewhat interesting, sounding like a demonic chant. Hell, sounds like you could really help them with the new album! Maybe they should simply try to reverse the order of the chords of the brickwall songs, might help them out! - Although, if there's only open G and nothin

I do remember the harp video but can't remember any statement (or speculation) as to the title of the song. Speaking of remembering, a few years from now the Stones as well as we will have forgotten anyway what an album is, kind of the blessings of old age: "Al...bum? I know Al the bum but what's an al...bum?" LOL

Ronnie is just making this up because he's tired of painting the same setlist song titles over and over ... Seriously now, I think we pondered this list before, no? (Can't remember.) Judging by the date of Dec 2015, this must have been a pre-brickwall session.

Got my copy now and my feelings are mixed as well - but only a little. Colorado is perhaps not among Neil's truly greatest but it's a good album and certainly nothing he had to be ashamed of. What I miss is a piece with the Cortez vibes.

QuoteLazarusSmith QuoteHairball Quotemailexile67 I hope at this point that they'll go to finish the new album betwewen December and February of next year just in time for new North American Tour in May Both The Who and Neil Young are getting rave reviews for their new albums from the press. Hope the Stones can hurry it up, otherwise they might miss the boat of positivity from the critic

Quoterbp Crosseyed Heart has a very low average DR6. It is heavily compressed (loud) and sounds terrible to me. D'oh! Really? Even the (quasi-)acoustic numbers? You're destroying my illusions!

Crosseyed Heart has a vibe to it that would also suit the Stones well. (I think I said this already somewhere round this thread before? But so what ...). I also like the non-brickwalled sound. - Actually, there should be several new albums: a Mick-style modern(ist) album, a Keith-style album, a Ronnie-style album (yes, Ronnie too! The real fun-part would be a Charlie-style new album with the Ston

Deep Purple's Made In Japan has no overdubs either (as far as I know). As for the Stones, over the years I grew to particularly like No Security. Actually a rather unflashy album but it really clicks.

At least, it would be nice if it finally came out in 2020. As there were statements (if memory serves, by Mick?) that is would be "ecclectic", this could mean either very interesting or rather hotchpotch. I'm quite optimistic they won't release total crap. Whether it will outshine SF or EOMS is another question (although I wouldn't mind) but that doesn't seem necessa

Sounds like we should start a petition: from now on two shows in every city: a warhorse show for the masses and a rarities show for the hardcore fans (which would also attract that part of the masses that couldn't get tix for the first show) ... Seriously now: It's clear they won't do a show with no warhorse at all but it would simply be great to have shows where you can't

Janie Hendrix has really got the job down of selling the thing in slices before finally coming up with the box. Several remastered versions of Band Of Gypsies, then remastered and expanded versions of Band Of Gypsies, then Live at the Fillmore East, then Machine Gun, and now this. Next thing will be the extended Baggy Rehearsals, the expanded and extended yet again, and then a box with all the sh

They were sold separately but each album came in its individual plexiglass slipcase (mini-box, so to say) because of the paper sleeves.

QuoteSighuntSpeaking of Cream, how is the recording live at the Sports Arena, San Diego on 20th October 1968 on the London Calling Label? I don't know about the London Calling label version but the version on "The Last Goodbye" is very OK (soundboard or perhaps preFM) and great audio quality. I don't know how many different (SBD or preFM) sources there are of this show but i

Promoors can be pretty sure that the Stones won't play only Italian summer hits from '71 or the like. When you're playing stadiums you would certainly prefer not to play to an empty house, and the Stones aren't any different in this respect. The kind of setlist IORRians would love the most won't give them a full house ...

@Sighunt, I was actually talking about the Cream farewell shows in London on Nov 26, 1968 , of which there appear to be no decent SBD sources, not to speak of an official CD release. One of the two farewell shows is found on disc 4 of but I don't know if it's the early or late show. (Also, I don't know whether the early and the late show had the same setlist or different setli

QuoteGasLightStreet However, artist management did not submit a setlist until the start of the event at 8:00 pm. This is absolutely ridiculous. Apart from the musicians, the setlist is relevant rather for the lightshow or video/pyrotechnics show (if there is one) or the ballet or dancers (if there is a dance show). The Grateful Dead played sold-out shows for decades and never had anything even

Yeah, their sound must have been spectacular! I remember reading a multi-page feature on the Wall of Sound in (German) Sounds magazine in 1974. Definitely different from the simple stacks of Marshalls that you saw on concert posters otherwise.

QuotePhil Good I just hope it will not be a desaster as the filming/editing of Cream's 1968 Farewell Concert was. e.g. when Eric was playing his ass off you see closeups of Jack's back or Ginger's face. And so it went on and on almost the whole movie long. There appear to have been issued quite a number of versions/editions of the footage over the years and I just wonder if

All shows are available on CD anyway, so no need to bootleg anything. To me, not really his greatest shows. Also, at least parts of the movie appear to be around for decades anyway. Excerpts from the Albert Hall shows were and are frequently to be seen in Hendrix docus and can also be found on Youtube. I wonder to what extent the full movie differs from what is already around (apart from possi
