I never dug too deep into his recordings with POTR (and they never toured in my area) so I hesitate to compare them myself (although I have no doubts that you're right). As long as there is another guitar, a bass, drums and two or so more folks doing background vocals - and Neil has the say - it possibly doesn't matter a lot who the actual players are. E.g.
