For me a major difference between Still Life and Flashpoint was that Still Life came out shortly before the Show in my town, got quite some airplay, and thus gave you a preview of what to expect. Flashpoint came a year after Urbal Jungle, and at least over here without any promotion at all (I remember that I just saw it by accident in a record store one day). So what one expects in that case is r

Quotestevecardi ... and the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle tour(s) are among my all-time favorite Stones performances. Same here, their musical performance was absolutely top on those tours. Yet I can't really warm to Flashpoint. The production is a bit sterile, doesn't really sound like a live album to me. Also the choice of songs is not optimal IMHO, 2000 Light Years, Gimme Shelter, Terr

QuoteTopi Now, Rainy Day Men aside, on the actual topic: my understanding is that the Stones were originally supposed to release two albums in 2023. One earlier on the year and another around the holidays. Did they every say anythig like this? (I couldn't recall.) Judging from the latest statements by Mick and Keith, they had made a selection of 23 (or so) songs that they finally worked on

Actually a very nice interview. Mick is clever, polite, funny, doesn't sound like run-of-the-mill answers at all, although he must be giving a ton of such interviews.

Quotequarkie Mick Jagger announces european tour! It's a german TV program (last night), but watch from minute 5. Well, Mick does not announce a European tour, he just says he hopes there will be one. Apart from that, of course it would make sense to follow up an American tour with a European tour, if nothing gets in the way.

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteMadMax No, of course not. She had to wait 20 years. I hope they skip it next tour and do Down In The Hole instead. That would be amazing. Or Slave. Not "or" but "and"! They oughta play both, Hole and Slave!!! Now that would be a great show!

Quotenoughties I was listening to my recording of Fleetwood Mac`s "Rumours" one night this autumn. All of a sudden my A-103 TEAC stereo cassette deck exploded with a loud bang and a smell of burnt. There was even some smoke. I was sure it`s days were gone after that, but know what? It still works as nothing has happened... Wow, I don't recall Rumours to be such explosive music ..

I used cassettes mainly for the car stereo in the 80s and 90s because the radio programmes were unbearable. Nowadays I put my car driving music on a USB stick. After most cassettes could no longer be properly played I threw most of them away (they only contained stuff transferred from my LPs or CDs anyway). I only kept a few with special stuff. Also my cassette deck conked out a few years back

QuoteIdorh Stones are No 1 for me, beyond that I am a fan of Keith and Charlie. But we have to be honest , Keith has problems with his fingers due to rheumatism. It can be numb with him, but it still limits fluid and fast playing. It's not from today, it's been like that for years. I assume most of the long solos on HD are Ron's. Furthermore, I don't underestimate Keith he is

Got to know only now, John Marshall, probably best known for his drumming in Soft Machine, died in September 2023 at age 82. Not sure whether there is any real Stones connection. Well, he has been one of the drummers for Alexis Korner’s Blues Incorporated, like Charlie Watts.

Quoteslewan to me the only (and main) aspect that might indicate that they really have another album on their minds (to be released some time in the future but most likely not as early as 2024) is that there no bonus tracks released – neither on any version of Hackney Diamonds nor on the two singles they released. This is so untypical for that Stones that it seems likely that they might want to k

Realistically speaking, I guess that 2024 will be a touring year as long as none of them gets ill. They might have time for an occasional brief session thrown in for good measure but possibly not much more. Mick said something like they are two thirds into the next album, Ronnie said in an interview recently that some of the additional recorded material still needs a bit of work, so in view of al

QuoteStonedRambler Time to revive the legendary "new album in 2024?" thread Of course, we didn't make it to page 1000, that goal is still to be achieved! Apart from that, the remaining 11 or 12 (more or less) finished songs were also part of the New Album material, they just didn't get released on New Album Part 1 (=HD) and were saved for New Album Part 2, thus reopening the

QuoteIrix Here's a comparison between Amazon/TIDAL 96kHz/24bit and TIDAL Dolby Atmos - . According to them, the Dynamic Range of the Atmos version (downmixed in stereo) is DR12-15. In comparison, HiRes-Stereo is only DR4-7. At the end of the article there're nice diagrams for each track, showing the usage of a 7.1.4 speaker system. Can this be gotten somewhere (other than th
