Hope this isn't old news but according to this source Neil has announced another new album to be released still this year: (Translation from deepl.com) Neil Young announces new acoustic album Neil Young's new album will be something of an acoustic compilation album. The nearly 78-year-old singer-songwriter announced this in a press release. Before And After, as the album will

Listening to Hackney Diamonds to me is still overshadowed by Hairball's death and other shite going on around me right now, so I want to leave it at some descriptive remarks for the moment. It's a very coherent, consistent and homogeneous-sounding album to me, not a torn affair like e.g. Voodoo Lounge. It was certainly a good idea to cut the album down to 12 songs. It's got its ver

QuoteMisterDDDD Part of me was both hoping and dreading that Hairball himself would reply in the thread saying he had been ill or on vacation etc. (more hoping fwiw) Same here, part of me still hoping he would eventually post in this thread, calling us something along the lines of bloody stupid idiots or whatever, and me happy about every curse we might have to take. Big Al suggested this th

QuoteTopi Hip image? I thought you were talking about an X-ray on the hips. I guess, just like many among their fans, also the Stones themselves have images of their hips done on a regular basis.

I found the message where Hairball posted one of his paintings, "La Costa", 34" x 62" (apprx. 3 by 5 ft.) from 1998: QuoteHairball QuoteRockman …..come on Hairball..,.. Wanna see some … give us all a lil glimmer Many people here have seen and know my art - painting, sculpting, mixed media, installations, etc., etc., etc. Some of it's political, some of it's

This is devastating news. Hairball is one of those people whose stamp is to be found all over IORR. This place will not be the same without him. I began to get a bad feeling when Hairball no longer posted in the Hackney Diamonds-related threads, and definitely when no more posts by him appeared in the discussion of Roger Waters’ then still impending release of his remake of Dark Side Of The Moon.

OK, for a change, here's Phish's tribute to DSOTM, live on Nov. 2, 1998: The audience quite audibly had their fun! (It's hard to listen to their version of Great Gig In The Sky without breaking a smile ...)

Quotejohn lomax QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotejohn lomax I would say there is zero chance of Bill playing at the gig. If Darryl isn’t available then I would think Andrew Watt would handle bass. If the gig even happens…… Why was he on the plane to NYC, then? We don’t even know that it was actually him on the plane. I remember years ago talking to a guy at work who was telling me about

QuoteTantekäthe QuoteIrix 'Dreams' (Jagger, Richards) - Forty Licks Outtakes 2002: , Listened to this today, and it was an eye-opener: how could those promising sessions result in the four turds that eventually made it onto the 40 Licks collection? And more specifically, what happened to "Don't Stop" on the very last mile - this is a night-and-day thing, who drove

Meanwhile I had the chance to listen to the whole album more properly. What can I say, first of all it suffers severely from galloping Waterism (or should I say, Waterization?). Roger apparently tried to construct a sort of (new) framework into which the existing songs (i.e., those with lyrics), would more or less fit. In service of that he uses almost every (formerly) free second (i.e., the orig

QuoteCristiano Radtke Quotebye bye johnny I am told that there is a 99% chance the Stones will put on a live show in New York for fans next week. “It will be a small club, like a nightclub,” says an insider. The Apollo would make sense. I guess Terminal 5 would, too. Thanks, bbj! If this is proven right, perhaps they could film it and use the footage for the documentary they're prepa

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteBig Al Quotegotdablouse Paris 2002 sessions I have wondered about those Paris, 2002, sessions. They seemingly worked on a fair number of tracks. I suppose we can only speculate as to whether they were merely running through possibilities for the four ‘new tracks’ that’d later appear on 40 Licks, or were they working on material for a follow-up to 1997’s, Bridges to

QuoteHouseBoyKnows Yes. I posted a similar message on the Sticky HD page yesterday. I've never had a delay like this from Amazon for a major release. Makes me wonder if the demand has been so great that they can't build inventory fast enough. As backup, I ordered from the official RS webstore but I may have to go to a real record shop. Dave's singing abilities have certainly aged better than Roger's. As it concerns Roger's "talking", I actually found his version of Stravinsky's and Ramuz's "Soldier's Tale" quite good.

Although one even claimed "since EXILE" and one 'only' (bloody Finnish newspaper) "since VOODOO LOUNGE"... Whatever. Stubborn, omnipotent and egoist as I am, I only trust my very own ears to make any judgments about the bloody thing..
