A slightly sensitive topic but I think it's worth posting that the venue in the Macedon Ranges is so called because of a rock formation near the top. There's a big slab of a boulder that sort of bridges the path up - think tunnel-like with one end of the slab on one side of the path, and the other on the other side and you really have to duck to get past/through it. That's said

Interesting account of the economic impact of a Hanging Rock show on the local economy. Rolling Stones cancellation hits Hanging Rock hard The postponement of the Rolling Stones Australian tour hasn't just dashed the hopes of music fans, it has also hit the Hanging Rock region hard. Towns in the area, including Woodend and Kyneton, will lose millions of dollars in economic benef

QuoteMax'sKansasCity Do you think that they'd show up if the stadium was only going to be two thirds full? YES... they put a 14 number on this tour and THEY WILL MAKE IT 14 SHOWS! at least STONES!! The 14 does not refer to the number of shows (check out the posters for the European shows!) but to the strange fact that it's the year 2014

QuoteRokyfan I just remembered I think I have pristene copies of Si Si Je Suis un Rock Star (12 inch) and Come Back Suzanne (45 ps) packed away somewhere, never played. Si Si Je Suis is an outstanding song - it harks back to Music Hall days. I've always thought that it was a very 'English' thing. Originally written for Ian Dury. I've also always thought that the other S

Melbourne : Public transport (metro trains, trams) is not free in Melbourne (1). You have to pay to use the trams and trains. (I'm putting that first because I've seen a posting here that claims that they are free.) Unfortunately the system (called MYKI) is not very tourist friendly. You need to buy a MYKI card (from a machine outside most train stations – they are NOT for sale

For those folk driving to Hanging Rock, Frontier Touring have just released a detailed map of the pre-show traffic flow plans. You can find it at No information (yet) on post-show traffic, or on support act(s)

QuoteMartinB I am sure Chuck is a nice man, but I can't help me, I find his way of writing annoying. Agreed. Much like his style of keyboards. Chuck (no pun intended) him out, and get Ben Waters in his place.

Travel Advice: Visitors to Australia who expect to use their phone/tablet to check travel times in Google will find that it works in all cities other than Melbourne. ie Don't use Google to plan train/bus travel in Melbourne.

QuoteDean Mick and Keith have both done "Desert Island" over the years on the BBC. Not according to the Official Site They, and Bill, have done "My Top Twelve" which although similar is not the same thing. Looking through the official site to see who chose Stones' songs, and which ones is fun.

There seem to be a fair number of PC2 tickets there. I guess they have given up on flogging overpriced VIP tickets. Hope this helps someone. ALL GONE. (Reasonable chance that t

QuoteEleanor Rigby And it just goes to show what a rip off this act has become. A disgrace for those who pay full price...of course there are certain people who dont have to worry about paying full price for tickets. What does that mean? I have a fair amount of experience that leads me strongly to the view that there's no such thing as a free (and by implication discounted) ticket t

QuoteGrison There have been no Support acts during the 50 Counting and since the start of the On Fire Tour except for Hyde Park which is a Kind of Festival like Glastonbury. I don't think there will be any in Australia, perhaps Adelaide and Hanging Rock. However the announcement has been for concert and not any notice of Support acts. Nothing new there. I know that Hanging Rock and Ade

QuoteAquamarine I know Robert Plant does. And tennis. I seem to remember Keith's tennis experience to consist of ball-boying for his parents, or so he said. I have a recollection of accounts in one book of sporty Mick never being able to beat lazy indolent Keith at tennis. Does Pool/Snooker classify as "sport". The one time I went backstage they were hanging around a pool

Quotebitman Here's the earlier shirt I was talking about - it was '67 not '66. 1967 Shirt But is there any evidence that these (mighty fine) t-shirts were 'Official' merchandise or were simply groovy stuff bought from a boutique in Carnaby Street?

QuoteMathijs I find it strange though that this shirt states 'North-American Tour 1972'. Not only is it a misspelling, but that tour was, at least at the time, not refered to as 'North American'. Mathijs So that merely confirms it as being not only a bootleg T-shirt, but a bad bootleg T-shirt.

Quotebitman There was a discussion on here awhile back. Apparently there was a fanclub shirt from '66. It is possible that different promoters printed up different shirts for each gig. There really wan't much merchandising back then. It's hard to imagine and insider who owned a few "inner circle" shirts owning a bootleg. That's why I tend to think this version is

QuoteRokyfan Quotepolythene sam That's a bootleg shirt. The only official 72 tour tee was plain white with a red and black tongue on the front and no writing. I have mine from Knoxville 72 around here somewhere. this seems correct. it's a legit shirt from 72 but not official tour merch. Interesting. Does anyone have, or know the whereabouts of any genuine official tour T-shirts ol

Quotebitman This copyright notice of sorts is what makes me think that it was an "official" piece of merch. I know bootleg shirts don't really have those ever. Run that past me again?
