Quotedaspyknows This makes the most sense to me. The Stones are lucky they can put the kibosh on a bad tour schedule. Other bands dont have that luxury. Basically I agree with you, but perhaps... "Few other bands/performers have that option." may be more accurate. eg Taylor Swift

QuoteRockman Documentary photographer Robert Frank drove all around the United States in 1955-56, shot more than 28,000 black and white images and published 83 of them in the groundbreaking book “The Americans.” **** Big Snip **** A Guggenheim Fellowship enabled Frank’s travels. The museum hosts an open house for the exhibit at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 11. Thanks for hacking that one....

There's a report in a Wyoming newspaper apparently about a trove of photo's.... But it seems to be behind some sort of paywall/subscriber only situation It looks intriguing. Can anyone get to it and post the text here?

Quotebustabutton I've posted this idea during past tours... Their Eastern European show should be in Athens. We have a lovely Olympic Stadium and millions enjoy travelling here every summer. A night or two after the main show, they will perform at the ancient Herodion Theater, in the center of Athens, beneath the shadow of the Parthenon nestled on the Acropolis. The evening will be named &

QuoteRockman the entire article is invented Yep most likely .... This may come as a shock to some folk, but it's not unknown for newspapers to totally invent stuff. Here's a 100% accurate example that is Stones related. In April 2022 the (UK) Daily Mail published a long article about how Bill Wyman had snuck off to a holiday at his place in the South Of France for a sneaky h

QuoteKoen Ok, thanks for confirming I had the author right. Didn’t know he wrote two more. And I could well be mistaken about the list of sources. Further examination of the book reveals that the article in question was in a section of the book called 'Midnite Rambler' and that that section was 'Compiled' by someone called Coco Pekelis. If Glimmerest tracks her down th

QuoteKoen Looks familiar, I think I saw this article in David Dalton’s book (which I no longer have). The book has a list of sources in the back IIRC. I have three books by Dalton, inevitably this was in the last one I checked. "The Rolling Stones : The First Twenty Years" by David Dalton, Thames & Hudson, London, 1981. It's on Page 148. However, none of the three Da

Quoteslewan QuoteDeanGoodman QuoteIgotDbluez Thanks for the input. Decided to go with a place near Abbey Road….we will just have to bite the bullet and figure out public transport! A much better part of town. right – although Abbey Road is a no go for real Stones fans Arguably the case - other than Mick & Keith being on "All You Need Is Love" and Brian on "You Know M

Quotestargroover If the Daily Mail article is to be believed, maybe the third and fourth Spurs gigs will come after Paris.Finishing on home turf seems probable. Or maybe the Barcelona shows which are causing logistical problems might happen after Paris. "If the Daily Mail article is to be believed" 'Nuff said.

Quotepmk251 Last week I recorded (again) and watched (again) Don't Look Back, a documentary of Dylan's '65 acoustic tour of England. I'm not sure how any bio-movie could touch that. At that time Bob was the coolest guy on the planet and he knew it. He had the look, the songs, the lyrics and, yes, that voice. The hotel room scene with Donovan is startling, funny, cruel. Bob

QuoteRollingFreak His singing and playing (everyone in the film doing so) was damn impressive If Cillian Murphy can get an Oscar (well deserved IMHO) for playing Oppenheimer, but without the ability to do any Theoretical Physics, then Timothée Chalamet has to get one as he both acted AND performed the substance of the part. I do strongly agree with RollingFreak that the fact that the actor

Quotesyrel The strong rumour is 25th and 30th, but as I typed I wondered if there might be a 3rd show added "because of demand" on the 21st later. Assuming there is a week gap between Rome and Amsterdam, and between London and Berlin, they could certainly fit a show in on the 21st. syrel As the dates for the last (US) tour emerged, two people produced what were essentially calendars

QuoteGlimmerest I do wonder what made Liam and Noel finally give in and make up. . Duh! MONEY!! I think I recall reading that they don't get any payout until the tour is completed, and that they get nothing if they bust up before the tour is over....! High Stakes indeed.

QuoteNilsHolgersson Wouldn't it be cool if they ended their European tour career in the Rome Colosseum? Because they wanted to perform there for the Rock & Roll Circus . Not quite right there.... The Rock & Roll Circus was filmed in mid-December 1968. I've never ever heard suggestions that conflate that with the Colosseum story. It was done and dusted long before the Colo

Quotebitusa2012 You can’t even buy this in Australia I don’t think In addition to my previous post.... If, like Matt Lee, you dislike doing business with Amazon, then go to this URL and buy it from the more reputable Rolling Stones themselves. Don't let them bounce you to the .AU site (it ain't there at this typing) and then postage to Australia does work and makes it about

Quotebitusa2012 You can’t even buy this in Australia I don’t think That is both correct and incorrect. I'm in Australia and last weekend following urging and encouragement from Rockman I set about sourcing it. I tried the usual places (JB etc) and drew a blank. We have an Amazon Prime account and at that stage I tried the .AU site and also failed. But I decided to try the USA Amazo

Quotetreaclefingers I don't know why this bugged me so much when it first came out: ...so I watched it again. Hmmm...I get the same feeling as the first time! And I don't know why this (23-Feb-76) bugged me, so I watched this (1-May-1975) to hunt for clues. Is imitation really the sincerest form of flattery or a polite description of copying?

The totally unique thing about this set of releases is that, all alone, there's a version of 'Sympathy For The Devil' that has been re-mastered and re-mixed for a 5.1 sound system. So, you can sit in the middle of your lounge room with the fantastic sounds coming from all around you. Love it!! PS. For the record, one of the people involved in the creation of the SACD form

I want to make it very clear before I get to the substance of this posting, that I am a big fan of Ben Waters. Personally I've had the view for many years that The Rolling Stones should part company with The Chuckster, and have Ben in as his replacement. The spirit of Stu lives on in Ben Waters. (And, yes, I know why). But in some idle browsing at I spotted this most recently he wa
