These opinions at just that. Keith, Mick, Charlie, and Ronnie obviously like how he plays bass for the Rolling Stones. If they did not trust him or his interpretations of their songs he would not have lasted for decades. Their opinions are the only ones that matter about who plays bass in their band!I miss Bill too. I miss Mick Taylor but I got over it. I have the choice not to listen or pay to

It's rock and roll bass playing not cerebral intricate jazz music. Keith and Mick obviously approve and trust him with their songs. In other words it's only rock and roll and they like it. Almost 3 decades of his bass playing and he is still there. Charlie picked him and apparently they work well together. Perhaps another reason for all the critiscm?

I think this is the quintessential Rolling Rolling Stones song.It should be their final last song to close the shows. The " keep on rolling" refrain is perfect. They did do that at the Tower Theatre right outside of Philly once as the final song. It was great Hope they do that instead Satisfaction. MT guitar work is missed on Tumbling Dice live but it is still a great song anyway.

His interpretation of the the song is his own. It sounds completely different then the original. He did not do the solo but did rhythm and it sounded like he did it in open G tuning. I don't believe KR was doing open G tuning at the time No Expectations was written. I like to think it was a nod to Keith. Anyway itnis a pleasure and welcome diversion to discuss music during these dark days o

Bill Wyman has said often time it was the entire band that developed the songs and members did not receive credit. Jagger/Richards took the credit. Mick Taylor had those blues as well. Bill Wyman siad other bamds always do that not The Rolling Stones. So crediting them as thr greatest song writi g duo seems a strech. You mention3d Moon Light Mile that I habe reaf MT had a major influence in.. But

Why all the bitterness about MT? His legacy with Stones is there forever. Nothing can change that . Why do people that.dislike disparage him want to ollow a thread dedicated to him? I saw the shows in Philly. His playing was incredible and the audience felt the same way. How could he be unrehearsed for only 1 or 2 songs? Really? That sounds totally ridiculous. The songs he did play on he was gr

I often wondered about the red jacket/ sweater with rhinestones that Keith wore. He also wore a blue one just like it. Maybe Granny Takes a Trip boutique in London?

Time really does fly. I saw them at the Spectrum sports arena in 1969. They were absolutely incredible. No horns, no back up singers just Keith! It was just the five of them and Ian Stewart on a stage with no light shows or gimmics. I know they were young and more agile but the music spoke for itself. If later day fans love them now they would have been amazed.

Quotechamp72 QuoteHMS QuotePhillyFAN MT is gone. The band rolls on without him. And the band imo rolls better without him, in hindsight MT became more and more a brake pad for the band, one can hear soome fine examples for that on GHS/IORR. Maybe yet another album with MT would have killed the band. He literally sucked the energy out of the band. The energy returned with Ronnie´s arrival. This

I read after MT left Jeff Beck was to be auditioned. I read he didn't want to join the Stones and declined. He said he was not into chaos. He also said he and Keith would have punched each other out. MT did audtion and stayed as long as he could. He was an amazing guitarist but with Jeff Beck he realized his stellar guitar style would not fit in band like the Stones. MT found out the hard

MT's time in the Stones is legendary. Nothing can change that. He left his imprint that can't be erased. Only armchair critics trying to convince others that their ears are lying to them. The Stones touring today is a greatest hits oldies show. However they have many casual fans but not really interested in the music other then the spectacle of the show and to say they saw "

Quoteiraq0708 QuoteRockman Ronnie could also be replaced. with who ???? ….. Ted Nugent....????????? ….. Who ????? Jagger was purported to have asked George Thorogood if he would be willing to step in and replace Ron during the 1981-2 tour when George was opening some gigs and Ron was out of his mind with his freebase habit. Read that many years ago--wonder how THAT would have sounded??!!

it is so strange to be on a thread about Mick Taylor and a few posters always hustle their way to the thread to critize the fans admiration of his time in the Stones. It is beyond strange. Those of us that want to discuss his playing should be able to do without detractors hustling over to tell us he was not that good or good in the Stones. Damn both MJ and CW agree about his contribution
